The Magic Potion For Fat Loss

If there were ever a magic potion for fat loss – it would
be water. Our bodies are comprised of about 70% water. We
lose about a liter (34 ounces) of water per day under
normal circumstances and when the temperature in our body
rises, as during exercise, we lose higher amounts of water
through sweat. It only makes sense that we need to
continually replenish this supply for water is necessary
for nearly every function in our body. Water regulates our
temperature, supports and protects our organs, helps with
digestion, transports nutrients to our muscles and helps
move along waste by products.

Water is, in essence, the key to fat metabolism. Here's
why: one of you liver's primary functions is to metabolize
stored fat to be burned for energy. If you are dehydrated,
the kidneys cannot function properly and the liver begins
to take over – as a result of working overtime, the liver
metabolizes LESS fat so MORE fat remains in your body.

Sometimes we mistake mild states of dehydration for hunger.
If we don't get enough fluids, our bodies give us
indications that are similar to hunger pains. When this
occurs, we start eating because we misunderstood what are
bodies were telling us. Unnecessary calorie consumption can
lead to excessive fat!

Water is a natural appetite suppressant. Drinking lots of
water throughout the day helps to keep you feeling full. If
your stomach feels full – you are less likely to overeat!

A constant supply of water is vital before, during and
after a workout. Dehydration leads to a lack of energy,
muscle fatigue and cramping. Even small amounts of water
loss can hinder exercise performance.

Remember that alcohol and caffeine are diuretics, making
you lose even more water, so be sure to compensate for the
additional loss.

How to do it: You can replace the water lost during a
typical day by drinking a minimum of 6-8 8 oz. glasses of
water a day. Begin by drinking your first big glass of
water right when you wake up. Drink a full glass of water
with each meal. Keep water with you at all times.

To prevent dehydration, make sure you're drinking adequate
amounts of water before, during and after a workout. As a
rule of thumb, drink 8-12 ounces of water at least an hour
before beginning to exercise, 8 oz during exercise and 8 oz
when finished. If you are hungry about an hour after
eating, try drinking a glass or two of water- you maybe
misreading thirst for hunger. If you are still hungry after
15-20 minutes then proceed with a supportive snack to tide
you over until your next meal.

Here's a 'success strategy' to get you started: Make
drinking water more fun by adding a slice of lemon or lime.
Drink water out of a frosted mug or colorful glass.
Grab-n-go flavor packets add variety to water between
meals. Keep a bottle of water in the car at all times. At
work, pack an allotted number of bottled water and set a
goal to finish the pack by the end of the day.

For those who tend to prefer carbonated beverages to plain
water try sparkling water. Not only is it crisp and
refreshing, it satisfies the need for carbonation. Just
make sure you choose a sparkling water that does not
contain sugar or fruit juice to avoid additional calories.

So if your goal is fat loss, combine a total body strength
training program, supportive nutrition and some interval
training with your magic fat loss potion and you're
destined for success!

The Best-Selling Booster For Brain Function

The preparations of ginkgo biloba commonly sold as herbal
supplements are derived from the leaves of the ginkgo
trees, which are probably the longest living in the world
Individual trees are believed to live for up to 1,000 years
and are found most commonly in southern and eastern areas
of the US, southern France, China, and Korea.

Traditional Chinese medicine has made use of the nuts of
the ginkgo tree for around 5,000 years, but the use of the
leaves is a relatively recent European development.
Widespread recognition of the active properties of the
plant have made ginkgo leaf extract products the
best-selling of all herbal medicines and supplements in
Europe, and also placed them in the ten most popular in the
USA, where it's classed as a dietary supplement. In fact
it's estimated that around 2 billion 120 mg doses of
supplement have been sold in the last twenty years alone.

The principal active elements of ginkgo leaf extract are
the flavonoids which, like those derived from other sources
(green tea, for example) are a powerful anti-oxidant; and
terpene lactones.

As an anti-oxidant, ginkgo biloba is particularly effective
in neutralising the most damaging superoxide free radicals
and thereby helping to prevent the atherosclerosis, or
hardening of the arteries, which is a common precursor of
serious cardiovascular disease. And most of the benefits
of ginkgo stem in fact from its effect in improving the
circulation of the blood - as numerous research studies
have demonstrated.

Ginkgo enhanced circulation in the minute capillaries of
the eye has been credited with protecting against
age-related macular degeneration (AMD), cataracts and
diabetic retinopathy. Improved circulation in the ears may
also protect against tinnitus and hearing loss.

Studies using supplementation at 240 mg also demonstrated
improved exercise tolerance and reduced pain in those
suffering from intermittent claudication, or peripheral
vascular disease, – a painful and potentially dangerous
problem with the circulation in the legs.

But as valuable as these effects undoubtedly are, it's as a
stimulant for the brain and a protector against the
dreadful effects of Alzheimer's disease and other causes of
dementia that ginkgo biloba is best known. Although
conventional medicine, as ever, retains its tendency
towards caution when considering the possible effects of
"alternative" remedies, it's generally conceded that ginkgo
biloba has significant therapeutic effects in the treatment
of the early stages of Alzheimer's. The benefits, in fact,
are closely analogous to those of conventional drug
therapies, and although not, of course, offering a cure,
may significantly slow down the progress of this most
devastating disease.

Research studies have also indicated clinically significant
improvements in performance in standard tests of memory and
learning when healthy adults were given supplements at the
level of 180 mg of ginkgo biloba a day for a period of six
weeks. Similar benefits, however, were not shown at lower
levels of supplementation.

The common sense hypothesis is that ginkgo biloba improves
the blood supply and circulation to the brain as it does to
other parts of the body, which can only have a positive
effect on the memory and other cognitive functions of the
organ. Moreover, improved circulation along with ginkgo
biloba's anti-oxidant properties play a major role in
protecting against the circulatory problems which can lead
to stroke, still one of the major causes of premature death
or incapacity in the Western world.

Although the 180 mg daily dose has been shown to be
beneficial, some alternative medical practitioners
recommend higher doses, even as high as 360 mg. The
generally recommended composition of supplements, and that
found in most commercial preparations, is in the
proportions 24% ginkgo flavonoids and 6% terpenes.

Ginkgo biloba is recognised as a safe medication and very
rarely produces any side effects in the otherwise healthy
even in the high doses mentioned above. But it's effect in
improving the circulation by reducing the "stickiness" of
the blood mean it is strongly contra-indicated prior to
surgery and for those already taking blood thinning drugs
such as warfarin.

In summary it may be said that conventional medicine
recognises ginkgo biloba as a potentially effective
treatment for Alzheimer's disease and as an aid to good
circulation with some positive effects in cases of
cerebrovascular disease and peripheral vascular disease in
the legs. Alternative practitioners insist that ginkgo
biloba is also effective in improving memory, learning and
general cognitive function in healthy adults, but orthodox
medicine remains reluctant to endorse these claims.

A Guide to Finishing Summer Projects for Adults with ADD

As summer draws to a close, families are enjoying their
last few weeks of rest and relaxation before getting back
to the grind. In addition to barbecues, vacations, and
outdoor fun, many people have completed a "summer project"
or two this season – from cleaning out the garage to making
a scrapbook of personal photos.

Lots of people have goals such as these for the less-busy
summer months, but for adults with Attention Deficit
Disorder (ADD), having a list of summer projects can be
overwhelming and stressful.

ADD adults tend to feel like they're always behind. They
feel like no matter how hard they try to catch up, there is
always so much more to do. To them, it seems like other
people have an endless supply of time and energy to
accomplish whatever they want! ADDers always feel like they
should be doing more, and doing it better.

Because of this, many adults with ADD are not enjoying
their summers. They're frustrated and annoyed with
themselves because summer is almost over and they haven't
even started the many projects that they had hoped to
complete. They are beating themselves up for not
accomplishing enough this summer.

For those individuals, here is a quick guide to finishing
up summer projects:

1. Pick one or two projects that are really important to
you. You may want to decide based on what's seasonally
appropriate, like keeping your garden or yard well
maintained. You can also choose based on things that
shouldn't wait, like fixing a leak. Or, best of all, you
can choose based on what you actually like to do, or are
looking forward to doing. Everything else can wait. This
step is essential. If you pick too many projects to work on
at once, you greatly increase your chances of
procrastinating on all of them.

2. Plan to work on your projects and schedule the time into
your day or week. Don't overdo it. If you try to spend
every free moment completing your summer projects, they'll
become tedious and boring, and your summer will slip away.
Instead, try scheduling in an hour a day for a couple of
days a week, or maybe even a full day on the weekend.

3. Remember to leave room in your schedule for some summer
fun! Completing projects can be extremely satisfying, but
life shouldn't be all about your to-do list.

Enjoy the rest of your summer!

The Dangers Of Trileptal: What You Should Know

Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a
condition that is caused by chemical imbalance in a certain
part of the brain. ADHD affects as many as 5% of all
children. About half the ADHD children carry the condition
into adulthood. The major treatment of ADHD involves
taking prescription medications. One drug that is commonly
used to help treat ADHD symptoms is Trileptal. There are
dangers of Trileptal that parents should know about before
their child starts taking it.

Trileptal is also known as oxcarbazepine. It is an
anti-seizure medication used to stabilize the levels of
electrical activity in the brain. It is most often
prescribed to patients who have ADHD combined with
oppositional defiant disorder (ODD). While other
anti-seizure medications have undergone various studies,
the effectiveness of Trileptal has not been studied
extensively.

There are several side effects associated with Trileptal.
These can range from mild to severe. While not every
patient who takes Trileptal experiences these side effects
they are quite common. Trileptal side effects are divided
into two categories: nuisance and dangerous.

Nuisance side effects are those that may be difficult to
deal with but do not pose any additional health threat.

Headache – One of the most common side effects of taking
Trileptal, headaches can range from mild to severe and are
often hard to get rid of.

Fatigue – Often patients taking Trileptal report a constant
general fatigue or sleepiness. This may improve with time.

Gastronomical problems –These include nausea, diarrhea,
constipation, abdominal pain and vomiting. If these
symptoms appear persist, the patient can become weak from
lack of nutrients.

Agitation – Trileptal can cause increased agitation in some
people. This could add to the already unstable behavior of
an ADHD child or adult.

Acne – Many patients on Trileptal report increased acne
which may be due to hormone imbalance.

Skin reactions – Patient may develop skin rash or
irritation. If the rash is severe or does not go away, you
should notify your doctor.

Concentration and memory problems – These may be hard to
diagnose because they are also ADHD symptoms experienced by
some patients. If these side effects worsen, you should
talk to your doctor.

Dangerous side effects of Trileptal are not only annoying
but can also pose serious health hazards to those taking
the drug.

Inflammation of the liver – Also known as hepatitis which
can be caused by prolonged use of the drug.

Chronic inflammatory diseases - These include
osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, inflammatory lung
disease, inflammatory bowel disease, atherosclerosis and
psoriasis.

Low blood sodium levels – Which can lead to many other
problems in the body. Patients should have their blood
tested to determine the sodium levels are correct.

Discuss with your doctor the dangers of Trileptal before
starting on the medication. If you experience any Trileptal
side effects, let your doctor know so that he can prescribe
a lower dosage or an alternative ADHD medication for you.
Seek immediate medical attention for severe reactions to
Trileptal.

The dangers of Trileptal cannot be ignored. Besides drug
medications, there are alternative treatments for ADHD that
are safer and yet effective. Check out the all natural and
drug free treatments for ADHD at

Should You Do Cardio Before Or After Your Weight Training Workout?

Should you do cardio before or after your weight workout?
Many prefer to do their cardio before lifting to get it out
of the way and as a general warm-up. I do endorse a 5
minute pre-workout general warm-up for safety' sake, but
for maximum fat loss, post weight training aerobics should
be the mainstay of your program.

The funny thing about being on the cutting edge of weight
loss science is that people are reluctant to believe you
until someone with a M.D. says it is so. Well, wonder of
all wonders, it just so happens that a recent study
suggests that the best time to do cardio is after a weight
workout and that how long you rest between the two can make
a difference in both hormone release and fat burning.

This is not new information to bodybuilders who specialize
in rapid fat loss year in and year out. My experience as a
competitive bodybuilder is what prompted me to use this
style of training for fat loss in my clients.

The study was presented at the 2006 ACSM meeting and
featured 10 healthy men who did three types of exercise
routines on different days: 1) Endurance exercises only 2)
Endurance exercise after weight training and a 20 minute
rest 3) Endurance exercises after weight training and 120
minutes rest

The weight training workout consisted of six exercises each
done for three to four sets of 10 reps. Pretty standard
fair and similar to the second phase of the Fat to Fit
Program. The cardio exercises consisted of stationary
cycling for an hour at low intensity (50 percent of maximum
heart rate.

For maximum fat loss I would suggest a higher intensity
level and a more High Intensity Interval Training style as
opposed to the low intensity approach used in the study.

Doing the weight workout before aerobics led to marked
increases in lactate, norepinephrine and growth hormone
levels. These are all great things when it comes to maximum
fat loss. Before the endurance exercise started those in
the 120 minute rest group showed the highest levels of free
fatty acids in the blood, while those in the 20 minute rest
group showed higher levels of norepinephrine and growth
hormone.

During the endurance and weight training exercises, blood
levels of free fatty acids and glycerol were higher in both
weight training groups than in the endurance only group.
The bottom line is that those in both weight training
groups were burning more fat during the aerobic exercise
than the aerobics only group.

You can compound the case for post workout aerobics further
by adding in the fact that not only did the group that did
weight training first burn more fat during their cardio but
also burned more calories in total by virtue of an
increased overall daily metabolism increase and calories
expended through the actual resistance training itself.

The study clearly shows that doing a weight workout before
aerobics leads to hormonal changes that increased fat
oxidation (read weight loss or fat burning) during the
following aerobic workout.

Here is another angle to the story. Imagine yourself doing
30 minutes to an hour of aerobics and then going on to do
your weight training. How much energy do you really have
left to do justice to your weight training? After all that
cardio, you have burnt through your glycogen stores (which
are the muscle preferred source of fuel) and will not have
the energy to stimulate the most outrageous fat burning
method available to you. An all day long, increased
metabolism, because you stimulated your muscles.

It kind of makes you smile when you find out information
like this doesn't it?

Diet: Your Colon responsible for 90% of all disease

The cleanliness of our colon in these days of fast food,
genetic modifying, pesticides, fertilizers, additives,
colouring, preservatives, irradiation, flavouring, high fat
intake, sugar etc.. is under a lot of pressure to say the
least.

Dr. Bernard Jensen in his book "Tissue Cleansing Through
Bowel Management" claimed that over 95% of people he saw in
his consultations were constipated. This may well be your
case!

Although you may have daily bowel movements, are you sure
that 100% of the nutrients your body does not need are
coming out? Is it possible that only 99.9% are rejected and
the rest sticks to your intestines? How long has this been
going on? What will this mean 10 or 20 years from now?

Some health experts say that 90% of all sickness and
diseases are related to an unclean colon! At the beginning
of this 21st century, statistics tell us that one female in
three and one male in nearly two will get cancer. More and
more people are dying from Colon cancer than ever before.
It now is one of the top three cancer amongst men and women
together. Individually, colon cancer claims the lives of
nearly 50,000 men and women annually and yet most people
still think "it won't happen to me".

The intestines can store a vast amount of partially
digested, putrefying matter (as well as drugs and other
toxic chemicals) for decades. The average person stores
between 5 to 25 POUNDS of waste accumulated over the years
in their colon. Some intestines, when autopsied, have
weighed up to 40 pounds and were distended to a diameter of
12 inches (30cms) with only a pencil-thin channel through
which the faeces could move.

That 40 pounds was due to caked layers of encrusted mucous
mixed with faecal matter called a mucoid plaque. This
bizarrely resembles hardened blackish-green truck tire
rubber. Mucoid plaque may vary considerably, depending on
the chemical conditions in a person's intestines. It may be
hard and brittle; it may be firm and thick; tough, wet, and
rubbery; soft, thick, and mucoid; or soft, transparent, and
thin; it can range in colour from light brown, black, or
greenish-black to yellow or grey, and sometimes emits an
intensely foul odour. At body temperature (98F degree's or
37C), the plaque begins to rot and decay, sending toxins
and poisons into the blood stream and throughout the body,
causing endless health problems.

Waste build up causes bacteria and toxins to spread
throughout the body resulting in sickness and even death.

If you have had a diet with regular helpings of some of the
following:

* Meat: including chicken, beef, pork/ ham, sausages,
bacon, lamb, poultry, eggs etc..

* Dairy products including cheese, yogurt, butter, milk

* Sugar including cakes, biscuits, chocolate, tinned food
etc..

* Coffee or tea * Deep fried foods

* Hydrogenated fats

* White flour Then, you most likely have impacted faecal
matter in your colon.

Dr. Richard Schulze believes that some of the methods for
colon cleansing don't work any more. This is because our
diet is now so far removed from what it should be. Our diet
is generally now full of food that has been changed in many
ways from what nature intended. Chemicals are added,
nutrients and fibres are removed, heating processes change
the molecular structure of the food and destroy any life
energy. In addition, we now get hardly any exercise,
whereas our forebears used to walk everywhere. And then
there's the added stress of today's style of living, and
electromagnetic stress (from computers, mobile phones,
cars, etc.).

Believe it or not, Dr. Richard Schulze and other doctors
have had people in their clinic who had only ONE BOWEL
MOVEMENT A MONTH! So where did all that food go? These
people had their bowels frozen solid. Their other organs
were being squashed by all the extra material down there.

There is no "one way", no "magic bullet. But there are ways
to cleanse your colon. The best methods include nutrition
and herbal cleanses. These are the very things that your
doctor won't tell you about - because they never learned
them. The average doctor learns around 4-20 hours of
nutrition during a FIVE-YEAR degree.

In addition to learning about nutrition, many people have
had great results from doing an occasional herbal cleanse,
of the colon, kidney and liver. The MOST important cleanse
to do is colon cleansing, because if you have a dirty colon
with impacted faecal matter, this will create extra toxins
which the other organs then have to continually detoxify.

* Famous herbalists such as Dr. John Christopher, Dr.
Jensen and Paavo Airola, ALL believed that a major cause of
most disease is a dirty bowel. The Merck Manual, the
medical industry's standard text for the diagnosis and
treatment of disease, tells us that colon degeneration is
increasing at an alarming rate.

What to do? Since "Death begins in the colon," your
nutritional program should begin with a good
colon-cleansing program. Toxins and waste build up in your
colon just like they do in the pipes of your home. Both
demand immediate attention or the results can be disastrous!

Your colon is one of the largest muscles in your body and
should be exercised regularly. Of course, physical exercise
is beneficial for the colon, but water and fibre is even
MORE important. Fibre is a bulking agent that gives the
colon the resistance it needs in order to remain firm and
active. If the colon is inactive, it will soon grow weak,
just like any other muscle. Colon inactivity may hinder the
movement of waste material along the intestinal track to be
eliminated from the body. You should learn how to eat
healthily.

A complete Regeneration Colon Cleansing Program should be
your FIRST step to any health or weight loss program you
undertake. The Colon Cleanse program will effectively
breakdown hardened waste from intestinal walls with Herbal
Tablets. Attract and hold toxins that have accumulated in
your body with Activated Charcoal. Sweep the toxins, fat
and cholesterol from your body with Psyllium Husk.

The following herbs have been found to be effective for a
colon cleanse:

* SENNA - an excellent source of cathartic acid that
fosters safe and brisk elimination.

* BUCKTHORN BARK - A mild, but certain purgative found
useful in habitual constipation.

* PEPPERMINT - A soothing anti-spasmodic which alleviates
discomfort, reduces flatulency

* LICORICE ROOT - A popular flavouring agent which reduces
cramping while facilitating the effects of other herbs.

* CASCARA SAGRADA - A natural bark that is the most widely
used cathartic on earth.

* PSYLLIUM HUSKS - An effective bulking agent.

* FENNEL SEED - A common flavouring agent that expels gas
and relieves colic.

* CITRUS PEEL POWDER - An unexpected source of relief for
colic

* GINGER - A well-known spice that relieves cramping and
colic while stimulating the mucous membrane.

* PEPSIN - A natural enzyme that breaks down proteins.

* RHUBARB ROOT - A natural blood cleanser used for chronic
indigestion.

* ANIS SEED - A long-used spice that expels gas.

* BLUE MALVA FLOWER - A beautiful flower with mild laxative
properties.

* SEA VEGETATION - a blend of sea vegetation that
detoxifies the bowels while providing an exceptional source
of vitamins, macro minerals, ultra trace minerals, enzymes
and amino acids.

Colon Cleansing promotes Good Health. Gets rid of most of
the toxins that are inside your colon that are causing your
body not to perform, as it should! I know this is a subject
that you don't hear much about. But, what if no one talks
about it? More people have problems with their colon than
most people realise.

Besides the poisonous effect this has on your body, waste
build up hinders nutrient absorption your body so badly
needs. By not eating healthy foods, and not exercising on a
regular basis, our system has a tough time digesting foods
properly. If your digestive system is not working properly,
it also makes it very hard to lose weight because your
body's not breaking down and excreting all the food you eat.

For a system to be "regular", it should produce 2-3 bowel
movements a day, shortly after each meal. Internal
cleansing is more important than external cleansing. The
Regeneration System Colon Cleansing System is an
all-natural, safe way to keep your system clean and
healthy. Many people shy away from colon cleansers because
they're afraid they'll have an inconvenient laxative effect.

But natural herbal ingredients work gently together to
simply aid in the digestion of your food and to cleanse the
colon of stored waste. You will not have that urge to go
and look frantically around for a bathroom. It is all very
natural! Keeping your system clean leads to a lifetime of
better health. Taking a "Colon Cleansing Program" can help
you:

* Remove Deadly Toxins

* Remove Parasites

* Prevent Toxicity

* Aid in Weight Loss

* Prevent Sickness

* Prevent Deadly Diseases
