Hot Tubs for Reflexolgy

Hot Tubs for Reflexolgy
Undoubtedly one of the prime reasons for having a hot tub
is for hydro therapy, which refers to, the use of water for
the purposes of healing and therapy.

Hydro is a prefix meaning that it is produced or generated
from water or the flow and movement of water and one
example that springs to mind is "Hydro-electricity"
electricity that is derived from Water.

So the point of all this is to try and define the word
Hydrotherapy and my own thinking is that it is a healing
therapy effect derived from the movement or flow of water.
Water is of course an outstanding resource. With out which
we would not survive on the planet Earth. Water is both a
liquid that we can drink and therby sustain our lives but
is also a fluid capable of being solid when frozen and is
often used in physiotherapy to help recovery from injuries
and to relieve muscle stiffness and aches by assisting in
the reduction of lactic acid. Warm soothing water helps to
open the blood vessels in the body so as to naturally
assist and improve blood circulation round the body. This
increased circulation helps to bring nutrients and thereby
assists the tissue and muscle groups around arthritic
joints relax, and promotes the flow of endorphins in the
body.

When you use a Hot Tub not only do you benefit from
Hydrotherapy but you also can benefit from Reflexology.

Modern day reflexology goes back in time many thousands of
years and is based on a very ancient form of therapy.
Treatment by massage to the hands and feet is known as
Reflexology and this is based on the fact that there are
reflexes in the feet and hands that correspond to various
parts of the body a bit like a mirror system. The massaging
effect of the warm water helps to apply gentle pressure to
the feet and hands increasing circulation and providing
respite to specific joint and muscular functions.

There is evidence that some kind of foot and hand therapy
was being practised in China some four to five thousand
years B.C. Around the same time the same kind of foot and
hand thereapy was in use in ancient Egypt, and this is
depicted in one of the ancient tombs of that era namely the
tomb of Ankmahor.

Inside the tomb of Ankmahor there is a wall painting which
dates from about 2300 BC so that's more than four thousand
years ago that shows an Egyptian physician to the Pharaoh.
I am told that the hieroglyphics, inscribed on the wall
translates into something like " Please do not cause me any
pain " to which the reply is " I will perform so that you
will praise me" Well you might say what is the point of
this history lesson ? Quite simply to show that reflexology
is a treatment that has been around for thousands of years
and one that you can enjoy using your own Hot Tub.

The Jets in a Hot Tub will massage your feet providing
similar if not perhaps better treatment than the Pharaohs
used to enjoy more than four thousand years ago.

Are Resolutions The Solution?

Are Resolutions The Solution?
The holidays are behind us and the New Year is ahead. What
resolutions did you make last year? Did you accomplish
those resolutions? If not, how long did they last? If
you're like me, and many others, resolutions unfortunately
are a set up for disappointment. Generally, resolutions
don't work. If you want to make changes in your life,
that's great! You can do it. Change your approach from
resolutions to a process of solutions for change.
Resolutions are usually thought of as beginning the first
of the year. Think of your process of change as an
opportunity available to you all year.

January 1 is not the magic date to make changes. If you
don't accomplish your solution from January 1, do you give
up? Do you wait until the following Monday to start your
weight loss plan? Do you wait until the first day of the
month to start again? There is no magic date. You can
make changes now. Right this minute is the time to begin.
Create the momentum to lose weight, improve your fitness,
or start your plan for overall health.

On December 31st, you're eating in a way you want to
change, such as high calorie sugar and fat food items, and
then on January 1st, it magically changes and you eat
fruit, vegetables, and only healthy choices. Is that
realistic? How has that worked for you? You can use
January 1st as a starting point to make changes, however,
don't set yourself up to believe if you stumble a few days
later that all is lost. If you stumble in your process to
making changes in your life, pick yourself up right away
and begin again. New beginnings are there for you anytime
you want.

Make a plan. Write your plan down. Commit it to writing.
Take it from free floating around in your head to a
journal, on your computer, even a note you put on your
refrigerator. Write it down to get it right!

Your plan needs to be specific. As an example, if you want
to lose weight, be more specific. A great statement in
your plan would be "I will lose 20 pounds" as a goal. You
are stating the fact of how much you want to lose rather
than the general statement of losing weight.

Do you want to give yourself a timeframe? If so, add a
date to your plan in reaching your goal of losing 20
pounds. Just remember, you didn't gain the 20 pounds in
one week and you aren't going to lose it in one week. Be
realistic and lose the 20 pounds in a healthy way. Rarely
do we accomplish anything big in one day. You can start
your process of change in one day but success is reached
with many small steps daily throughout the year.

What's your plan in losing the 20 pounds? Are you going to
eat differently such as limiting refined carbohydrates,
fats, having planned snacks in addition to meals rather
than grazing all day? List the steps you're going to take
to get to your goal of losing 20 pounds.

In your plan, think "what" you are going to do and "how"
you're going to do it. The "what" is losing 20 pounds.
The "how" is by limiting sugar, fats, and walking 30
minutes four days per week. You can also add a "when" by
adding a timeframe in losing the 20 pounds.

In your plan, be prepared for life. Life happens.
Unexpected situations will occur and you need to be
flexible. That doesn't give you license to put your
commitment for change on hold. It just means that things
will come up. Be flexible and accepting of any stumbles or
falls. Start where you are. Don't focus on the stumble
but acknowledge the successes you've already accomplished.
Your process for change will be made in many small
increments until the change you're moving toward is now
second nature and a part of your life. Use the concept of
resolutions as a catalyst for starting your process of
change. You'll allow yourself to create resolutions and a
new beginning any day of the year. This time next year,
you'll be enjoying the change you resolved for yourself now
or anytime throughout the year.

Probiotics Are Essential for Our Health

Probiotics Are Essential for Our Health
Most of us are unaware that our health is directly
connected to billions of beneficial microorganisms that
live in our gastrointestinal tract. These microorganisms
help our body break down and absorb food, produce essential
nutrients, and help to clean putrefaction and waste. The
microorganisms also kill harmful bacteria, viruses, fungi
and yeast. These microorganisms are beneficial bacteria
i.e. flora that make up over two pounds of our body weight.
We need to maintain an adequate amount of beneficial
bacteria i.e. flora to counteract harmful bacteria's
potential harm to our health.

So why has it become necessary and essential for us to add
natural probiotic supplements to our diet? Our current
food production in our country has become that of highly
processed foods that are full of chemicals, simple sugars,
and carbohydrates. This means that we are eating foods that
are essentially without anything living. A very large
portion of our agricultural production has used a great
amount of pesticides and fertilizers that have almost
depleted living soil-based microorganisms that are
essential for our health. It has become standard practice
to use antibiotics for any ailment that we may be
experiencing. Anti means against biotics. In other words,
antibiotics kill all the bacteria in our intestinal tract
whether it's beneficial bacteria or harmful bacteria..
Farm animals are given antibiotics in their feed and we in
turn ingest the antibiotics when we eat meat. The chlorine
in our water kills our intestinal flora. Alcoholic
beverages kill the flora we need and leaves an environment
for the growth of harmful bacteria, yeast and fungi.
Overuse of intestinal cleaners and colonics for detoxing
our intestines removes much of our beneficial flora. The
use of radiation and chemotherapy also kills our beneficial
intestinal flora.

Our modern food processing, diet, and other practices can
leave our digestive system without the essential flora it
needs to keep us healthy. As a result, many of us
experience acid reflux, depleted immune systems,
constipation, diarrhea, gas, bloating, candida, food
allergies, chronic fatigue syndrome and perhaps a cancerous
condition.

When we use probiotic supplements, the supplements are
designed to withstand the acidic condition of our stomach
which can kill beneficial bacteria. A probiotic must be
resistant to gastric, bile and pancreatic juices in order
to reach our colon alive. The probiotics then attach to
the wall of our intestine and increase the number of
beneficial bacteria and lowers the amount of harmful
bacteria.

Probiotics break down hydrocarbons i.e. divides the food we
eat into it's most basic components so it can be absorbed
by our digestive system therefore increasing the amount of
nutrition we need for energy and cellular production and
repair. In addition, probiotics get beneath the layer of
sludge and accumulation of waste on our intestine walls
attach themselves and loosens the waste and decay so that
it can be eliminated. The sludge and decay often keep
toxin e.g. heavy metals in our bodies. When the waste
remains on our intestinal wall it can lead to either
constipation or diarrhea. Probiotics relieve constipation
or diarrhea giving us a healthy regular elimination of
waste. Therefore, probiotics clean our intestinal system
removing toxins so eliminating the need for use of
colonics and heavy intestinal cleansers.

Probiotics produce important enzymes and increase the
availability of vitamins and nutrients, especially B
vitamins and vitamin K, lactase, essential fatty acids and
calcium. The beneficial bacteria contained and supported
by probiotic supplements strengthen our immune system
therefore increasing our resistence to viruses, allergies,
candida, and chronic fatigue syndrome. Probiotic beneficial
bacteria work with tissue and cells to metabolize proteins
and eliminate toxins from our bodies. Probiotics help to
kill viruses and parasites. Probiotics help to lower
cholesterol. Probiotics help prevent yeast and fungal
infections and even eliminate them if they are already in
existence. Probiotics stimulate B-Lymphocyte and similar
natural anti-bodies that help fight infections. Probiotics
produce Lactoferrin which is an iron-binding protein needed
to obtain iron from our foods and facilitate the absorption
of iron that we need for our oxygen carrying blood cells.
Probiotics also stimulate our body's natural production of
alpha-interferon which is essential for proper immune
system response and effectiveness.

Since our skin is a major part of our respiratory system
and waste elimination system, when our intestinal system is
not able to function properly, our skin then is used to
eliminate waste from our bodies. This results in skin
irritations and disorders. Probiotics increase the waste
and toxin elimination from our intestinal system making it
unnecessary for our skin to be used for excess waste
elimination. Therefore, with the use of probiotics, skin
irritation and disorders are prevented and often eliminated
if they already exist. Since our skin is no longer being
burdened by waste elimination, body odor is eliminated
along with bad breath. Not just our skin is cleared of
toxic waste when our intestinal system if functioning
properly with healthy flora, but also our lungs and other
vital organs freed of toxic waste.

It is indeed unfortunate that our modern food production
and processing practices have made it necessary for us to
use probiotic supplements in order to have a healthy
digestive system and to be able to properly eliminate the
toxins i.e. chemicals and heavy metals that have become a
part of our food production. It is also unfortunate that
our over use of antibiotics, synthetic prescription drugs
and chemicals such as chlorine, which were supposed to keep
us healthy are actually causing us difficulty as they kill
the healthy flora that we need in order to live. We need
to be aware of these developments take care of ourselves
with the use of probiotics. Probiotics are essential for
our health.

Food Storage

Food Storage
My mother does not know how to make adjustments; especially
when it comes to food. She had eight kids and is accustomed
to food shopping for 10, which includes her and my dad. But
everyone has flown the coupe, and still she food shops for
eight hungry hippos as if no one has ever left. Her food
storage cabinets contain more cans than a grocery store
shelf. The refrigerator is ready to feed the entire state
of Rhode Island. She could set up some tables at the Rhode
Island welcome center and people could help themselves and
take home some leftovers.

Do you know anyone like this, who over food shops and needs
more food storage? Well this is not just a domestic issue.
Many food venders lack the food storage space in their own
homes, or they refuse to use their own homes for food
storage. Food venders seek relief in storage units for food
storage. If a storage unit is granted, food venders are
limited to package and canned goods for using storage units
as food storage. Freezer and refrigerator food usually is
prohibited.

Someone might be storing food for charity reasons. A social
worker might be collecting food donations to help feed the
hungry. In this case, storage units serve as temporary food
storage until the food is shipped to its destination.

If you are planning on using a storage unit for food
storage, take some precautions to insure that your storage
unit doesn't become infested with bugs and rats. Put bagged
food items in sealed storage bins. This will prevent bugs
and rats from smelling food in your storage unit. Storage
bins also keep them from penetrating the bags of food.
Store all the food goods off the ground. Use a shelf or
table to elevate the food from the floor. Double bag and
seal airtight all food items. Check the food for broken or
damaged packaging. If packaging is broken get rid of the
food by throwing it away or eating it. Leaving it in food
storage is an invitation for mice and rats. Taking these
precautions could save you and your storage neighbors from
infestation. Your storage neighbor is already nervous about
renting a storage unit next to food storage, so don't give
him any grief.

Food storage is best when kept in a climate control unit.
Climate control will insure that your food items be kept at
a constant 70 degrees. Your stored food won't spoil from
extreme temperature conditions. Preserved food doesn't last
forever; however, you don't have to shorten foods live by
letting it cook in 100 degree weather. Can drinks and
bottle drinks are ultra sensitive to temperature
variations. A can of seasoned can of soda will become stale
from climate change. So, to insure the best quality from
your product, keep food in a climate control unit.

Storing food in a storage unit can be a pleasurable
experience if it is done right. Otherwise you may cause a
nightmare for yourself and your storage unit neighbors.
