Home Treatment Head-Louse Remedies: Tips for Ridding Your Head of Lice

Passed down from generation to generation, many home
treatment head-louse remedies have stood the test of time
and can be quite effective at ridding your house of the
bothersome pests. Most of these remedies require multiple
treatment applications to be completely successful, but
many feel the extra effort is well worth avoiding harsh
chemicals and a possible allergic reaction.

Home treatment head-louse remedies may incorporate the use
of several common and inexpensive household items, all of
which are safe and non-toxic. Here are some helpful tips
for safely and effectively ridding your house of a lice
infestation:

- Before beginning treatment, the hair should be washed
normally, blown dry with hot air and then brushed
vigorously using a bristled brush to loosen nits, removing
the rest by hand after treatment.

- Combine equal amounts of oils of lavender, geranium, and
tea tree with a base of olive oil. Massage the mixture into
the scalp, loosening the nits or eggs, allowing them to be
easily removed by hand or with a fine-toothed comb. Flea
combs work better than most of the combs that come in lice
removal kits.

- Combine olive oil, tea tree oil and shampoo, coconut oil,
and sweet almond oil. Apply to the scalp and hair, leaving
in place for one hour before rinsing with hot water and
shampooing again.

- Baby oil and equal amounts of vinegar may be applied to
the scalp and massaged through the hair. Leave on the hair
and cover the head with a shower cap for one hour before
using regular shampoo.

- Massage petroleum jelly all over the scalp and hair, one
of the messier home treatment head-louse remedies, but
effective at smothering the lice. It will be difficult to
rid the hair of the jelly, usually requiring numerous
shampoos before it will be completely clean. Try using
flour to absorb some before shampooing. Mayonnaise may also
be used in a similar fashion.

- Perhaps the simplest home remedy is preventing an
infestation altogether by teaching children simple
proactive approaches, such as not sharing personal items
with friends, or trying on hats in stores, or coming in
contact with another person's hair.

If you are ever in doubt about any home treatment
head-louse remedies, simply ask your doctor for their
recommendation as to whether or not the method is safe or
effective. Some very unorthodox and potentially dangerous
myths exist about removing head lice. One should never,
ever use kerosene or gasoline or isopropyl alcohol as a
method of removing lice, as serious injury may result.
Also, veterinary products for the removal of fleas and
ticks should never be used, as well as any type of
lawn-care chemicals.

Home treatment head-louse remedies may need more than one
application and should be coupled with treating the whole
house to avoid chances of a re-infestation. All clothing,
towels, and bedding should be washed in water hotter than
130 degrees Fahrenheit or 55 degrees Celsius and then dried
on the hottest dryer setting. Add tea tree oil to the hot
water for some extra insurance. All carpets and throw rugs
should be thoroughly vacuumed, and hair care items should
be either discarded or soaked in rubbing alcohol for at
least an hour.

Overweight And High Cholesterol

Overweight And High Cholesterol
It's been well documented by now that being overweight can
lead to a variety of health problems, both internal and
muscular skeletal. When mention of weight problems is made,
it's fairly rare that problems to the external body or the
muscular skeletal region are mentioned, but carrying excess
weight on the body frame can lead to any number of physical
stress injuries. If anyone should doubt this claim, they
can tie a weight around their waist and observe the outcome.

When considering internal bodily functions, one of the
major risks in being overweight is the development of high
cholesterol. The term high cholesterol is actually a bit
vague since cholesterol is fairly wide ranging, and not all
cholesterol is harmful. In truth, cholesterol is found in
the cells of all tissue and cholesterol is required in the
building and development of cells. Without cholesterol in
some form, the human body wouldn't function or develop
normally. When discussing cholesterol that adversely
affects health, the term that's really being referred to is
a form of cholesterol found in the blood stream.

Cholesterol is a main component of lipids, or fat, found
within the blood. Though it's a rather complex medical
explanation when considered in specifics, essentially the
cholesterol that makes up the lipids in the blood is
carried by proteins, one of which is referred to as
low-density lipoproteins or LDL. LDL is often referred to
as bad cholesterol because of an association with artery
disease. The higher the levels of LDL, the higher the
chances for circulatory problems including heart disease
and stroke. High levels of LDL then is what's really meant
by references to high cholesterol.

High LDL levels can be an inherited trait, but are just as
likely if not more likely to be brought about by diet.
People who eat foods heavy in saturated fats in particular
are more inclined to have high LDL levels than people who
consume only moderate or small amounts of saturated fats.
While overweight isn't exclusively a result of a high fat
diet, high fat diets will certainly put extra weight on the
typical person's frame over time. And whether diet is the
main culprit or not, people who are overweight generally
have higher levels of LDL than non-overweight people.

The reason for concern about high levels of LDL is quite
clear: high levels of LDL are strongly associated with
heart disease. This is frequently why routine physical
examinations include a blood exam that checks for LDL
levels. Any person who is overweight and has high LDL
levels will almost certainly be recommended to lose weight.
The good news is that weight loss is correlated with lower
LDL levels. It's one more way that losing weight improves
one's health outlook.

The Truth About Building Muscle

The Truth About Building Muscle
How to build muscle? Is the question that I am often asked
about. While most people want the magic pill, what they
really need are a few simple tweaks to their training
programs that I am about to outline.

1) There are two things that people can do immediately to
build muscle

A) People can focus on both full body training and body
part splits. We've knocked training "arms" for too long but
the only thing that will make us grow is training a muscle
with a big amount of volume. At that same time, we can also
use an upper body day to get stronger. It is the best of
both worlds B) People can sleep more. It sounds simple but
going to bed by 10:30 and not getting up before 6 am will
go a long way in helping us build muscle.

2) Train your legs more. Leg training is so essential for
growing muscle everywhere. By training your legs hard you
raise the anabolic signals in your body that tell you to
grow. Nothing stimulates more muscle heavy squats or
deadlifts. They raise your natural muscle building
hormones, which cause you to grow

3) Use the correct sets and reps. To build muscle we need
to realize that, we have to perform enough volume so we
breakdown muscle then build new muscle. So that being said
I usually advise sets and reps like 4 sets of 8 reps or 6
sets of 4 reps. Remember, low reps can make us grow to
simple because our body adapts to whatever we do for awhile
so we need to change it up.

4) Use this secret trick. First, if everyone isn't doing
pull-ups or squats then they need to do it right now. My
best piece of advice is to tell everyone to do a back off
set per exercise. For example, if you are training on the
bench press and doing 4 sets of 8 reps then do a 5th set of
20-25 reps. This will push more blood into the muscle which
will force more grow.

Building muscle is all about the quality of your workouts.
Most people get caught up in the typical 3 sets of 10 reps
dogma. While that will work for a certain period of time,
it won't work forever. In my opinion, the best way to
design your training for growth is to use 4-6 week spurts
of volume phases where you train with sets of 3-4 and reps
of 8-15. For the next 4-6 weeks, you should go with more
sets of 4-6 and lower reps of 5-8. Both of these methods
will lay you to have both muscle and strength gains.

Hate Shaving, Plucking, Waxing? Ways to Get Hair Free for Less

Hate Shaving, Plucking, Waxing? Ways to Get Hair Free for Less
It doesn't matter if you're a man or woman, excess body
hair just isn't very attractive or appealing. Heck, these
days I think men are shaving and waxing or using some sort
of depilatory to get rid of body hair just as much as women
are.

One of my least favorite pastimes is to shave my legs (by
the way, I'm a woman). I can't tell you how much I loved
it when I found a time that I didn't have to shave my legs
for a few days. Of course, then there were still the
underarms that needed tending to, but that was a small feat
when compared to the time it took to shave my legs, making
sure that every square inch was covered.

And the most frustrating part was that since I'm a person
whose hair grows faster than your standard-issue garden
weed, I'd most likely see that hair coming back in stubble
just a few hours after shaving! Talk about frustrating, I
was willing to pay just about anything to either never have
to shave again or to dramatically reduce my shave time so I
could do things that I actually enjoy instead.

I even briefly considered laser hair removal or
electrolysis for my legs, and even for my underarms, but
after looking at the hefty price tag and getting anxiety
attacks about spending that sort of money, on top of
hearing stories about how it many times took repeat
treatments and sometimes didn't even work, I decided that
wasn't the way for me to go.

So I started to look into some better, less expensive
options for staying hair free. I looked into waxing, but I
realized that I'd first have to grow the hair on my legs to
a very unattractive length before I could attempt to wax,
and looking like Bigfoot for a few weeks was not an option
for me personally.

I also read how waxing was many times painful and could
leave you with rashes or red bumps. I have sensitive skin
to begin with, so I knew that I'd probably end up with the
bumps if I tried it.

When I was younger I even tried a hair removal device
called an EpiLady. Do you remember these things? It
should have had a tag line called "Torture Hair Removal
Chamber", because the process was so painful and
uncomfortable that I ended up giving it away.

The person I gave it away to had electrolysis performed on
her face several times, which is rumored to also be a
painful process, and she said this device was ten times
more painful. So much so that she tossed it in the trash
after one go at it.

So that dashed my hopes that there was a device that could
pull my hair out and leave my skin baby smooth for weeks
without sending me through the roof with pain. Hmm, wonder
why these devices are nowhere to be found these days?

Onto my final solution, which has worked like a charm for
me. I've been lucky enough to find a gentle-formula
permanent hair removal product on the market that doesn't
irritate my skin, and actually makes my hair disappear for
weeks on end. You can find one too, since there are a few
good ones out on the market.

You will pay a higher price for the better ones, but keep
in mind that you will have to use less and less of the
product as you go, since it is designed to slowly virtually
stop hair growth where it is used. You can either shave or
wax before you apply most permanent and semi permanent hair
removal creams or gels.

With these permanent hair removal products, you do want to
make sure you leave them on for as long as they recommend,
as this is crucial in getting the product to work deep
enough to inhibit the follicle from sprouting again.

Also, during the first few times of using it, be sure to
space out uses as the specific product indications
recommend, as this will also be key in getting the hairs at
the right stages for stunting their growth properly. This
will be important for getting to that "maintenance level"
where you hardly have to use it any more.

Of course waxing probably offers a better result the first
time, since it pulls the hair out by the root and allows
the product to work at root level right away, but I've just
used shaving as my means of hair removal before application
and it has worked beautifully.

So, there you have it, an easier, pain free, less expensive
way to dramatically reduce your time with razors, wax kits
and other various instruments for hair removal!

Medtronic Defibrillator Lead Recall not the first Problem for ICD Manufacturers

Medtronic Defibrillator Lead Recall not the first Problem for ICD Manufacturers
Over the last few years defibrillators and pacemakers have
been the subject of several news provoking recalls.
Defibrillators and pacemakers are known as implantable
cardiac defibrillators or ICDs. ICDs are electronic devices
that constantly monitor your heart rate and rhythm. When it
detects a very fast, abnormal heart rhythm, it delivers
energy to the heart muscle. This causes the heart to beat
in a normal rhythm again.

The failure of an ICD to provide the necessary energy to
the heart can result in serious injury or death. Thousands
of Americans rely on these devices to literally keep them
alive. Understandably, the frequency of recalls for ICDs
and their components has been a source of much concern for
heart patients and their physicians.

In June 2005, Guidant Corp. issued a series of recalls for
many of their implantable pacemaker models. Throughout 2005
and 2006 Guidant recalled 22 different models:

· Contak Renewal

· Contak Renewal 2

· Contak Renewal 3

· Contak Renewal 3 AVT

· Contak Renewal 4

· Contak Renewal 4 AVT

· Contak TR

· Discovery

· Discovery II

· Insignia

· Intelis II

· Meridian

· Nexus

· Pulsar

· Pulsar Max II

· Renewal 3 AVT

· Renewal 4 AVT

· Renewal RF

· Ventak Prizm 2 DR

· Ventak Prizm AVT

· Virtus Plus II

· Vitality AVT

Guidant wasn't the only ICD manufacturer that had problems
with their defibrillators. On February 3, 2005, Medtronic
announced the recall of several models of ICDs because of
battery problems which could cause them to fail. The recall
involved Medtronic's Marquis line of ICDs, which included
the following models:

· Micro Jewel II Model 7223Cx

· GEM DR Model 7271 ICDs

· 7230 Marquis VR

· 7274 Marquis DR

· 7232 Maximo VR

· 7278 Maximo DR

· 7277 InSync Marquis

· 7289 InSync II Marquis

· 7279 InSync III Marquis

In December 2007, Medtronic Corp announced that it agreed
to settle 2,682 legal cases related to these recalled
defibrillators for $114 million. $95.6 million plus $18.5
million The settlement came after Medtronic's attempt to
have the lawsuits dismissed failed in November 2006, when a
U.S. district court denied its request.

On October 15, 2007 Medtronic Corp recalled its Sprint
Fidelis defibrillator leads because they can fracture and
cause an ICD to issue unnecessary shocks or not provide
needed shocks. A defibrillator lead connects an ICD to the
heart, if a lead fractures it can send misinformation the
ICD and cause serious complications. The recall involves
the following Medtronic Sprint Fidelis models:

· Sprint Fidelis 6930

· Sprint Fidelis 6931

· Sprint Fidelis 6948

· Sprint Fidelis 6949

Medtronic has said that most patients will not need to have
their leads replaced. The company believes that
reprogramming devices for most patients will alleviate the
increased risk posed by defective leads. However, this
"solution" is not sitting well with many patients with
recalled leads; these patients would prefer undergoing lead
replacement surgery to have peace of mind.

The ICD market is already huge and quickly growing. In fact
the market is so lucrative that there was a bidding war for
Guidant Corp. even after the company recalled thousands of
their devices. Johnson & Johnson and Boston Scientific were
undeterred by the potential fallout over the recalls and
both offered aggressive bids for the company. Boston
Scientific finally outbid Johnson & Johnson and purchased
the company for $25 billion dollars.

----------------------------------------------------
The recall of thousands of defibrillators over the last few
years has alarmed many heart patients and doctors. The
issue has come to light again when Medtronic recalled its
Sprint Fidelis defibrillator leads. In 2005, Medtronic
recalled its Marquis line of ICDs. In 2005, Guidant Corp.
also recalled thousands of defibrillators and pacemakers.

Vitamin D Is Essential For Bone Health And More

Vitamin D Is Essential For Bone Health And More
Vitamins D is a fat-soluble seco-sterol hormone precursor
that is responsible for sustaining optimal levels of
calcium and phosphorus in our blood stream. To some extent,
Vitamin D is manufactured by our skin though exposure to
sunlight. The best time for sunlight exposure is during
the spring and fall seasons.. Winter sunlight is too weak
for the production of Vitamin D. Many of us do not get
enough exposure to sunlight during the year. We have been
convinced that the sun is not good for our skin, so when we
are exposed to sun we have come to use clothing and sun
screen to "protect" ourselves from the sun. Most of us
spend most of our time indoors. These factors have resulted
in making Vitamin D deficiency a common if not major health
problem. It has also been found that older people and many
younger women, especially African-American women, and those
who live in Northern climates with less time exposure to
sunlight are at risk for Vitamin D deficiency.

Vitamin D is essential in reducing bone fractures and
increasing bone strength and density. It has been found
that higher quantities of calcium alone in our diets does
not reduce the risk of bone fracture or significantly
increase bone density and strength. The reason for this is
that calcium needs to be absorbed in order to be
beneficial. Vitamin D is essential in increasing the
absorption of calcium. This is especially important for
women in producing and maintaining healthy, strong bone
structure and prevention and treatment of osteoporosis.
Children need Vitamin D to help their bones mineralize
during rapid bone growth. Of course, we all know the
importance of the absorption of calcium enhanced by Vitamin
D for the development and maintenance of oral bone and
tooth health. Vitamin D may very well help us keep our
teeth.

In the Northern part of our world and during the winter
many people suffer from SAD i.e. seasonal affective
disorder. SAD is a form of depression most probably due to
reduced exposure to sunlight resulting in less production
of Vitamin D. It has been found that supplemental intake of
Vitamin D is superior to light therapy in reducing the
condition of SAD. It has also been found that blood
pressure is elevated during the winter and in people with
less exposure to sunlight. Research has shown that people
with little exposure to sunlight, who add Vitamin D
supplementation to their diets, experience lowering of high
blood pressure and lower heart rate. The absorption of
calcium though the use of sufficient amounts of Vitamin D
has been found to prevent and reduce hypertension..

Vitamin D has been found to provide a critical function in
many metabolic processes, such as our cell growth, our
immune system, and our cardiovascular health. Low levels
i.e. deficiency of Vitamin D has been found to be a factor
in congestive heart failure for many older people.
Extensive research is being conducted to determine the
effect of Vitamin D deficiency in the growth of certain
cancers. The lack of absorption of calcium because of
Vitamin D deficiency has been linked to seizures. Because
of Vitamin D's effect on the maintenance of healthy levels
of calcium and phosphorus in the blood stream and
absorption of calcium and phosphorus, Vitamin D has been
shown to be helpful in treating kidney failure.

Vitamin D has been shown to increase muscles strength,
especially large muscle e.g thighs, calves, arms, and
diaphragm. Vitamin D has also been found to reduce muscle
pain by helping repair the damage of muscle strain. This is
especially important as we age.

More and more evidence is being found confirming the vital
importance of Vitamin D for our general health as well as
for our bone health. Unfortunately, relying on exposure to
sunlight for our skin to produce Vitamin D, has it's
limitations such as winter, geographic location, indoor
lifestyle, etc. It would be wise for us to insure that we
are receiving enough Vitamin D by adding a Vitamin D
supplement to our diets in single form or through multiple
vitamin formulas containing healthy amounts of Vitamin D.

Lose All the Weight You Want

Lose All the Weight You Want
If you are struggling with weight loss, then use these
motivational secrets form fitness expert Dax Moy to help
you stick to your goals and change your body permanently.
You'll lose all the weight you've ever wanted and have the
body of your dreams if you combine the right mindset with
proper eating and exercise.

I interviewed Dax Moy for a special report called,
"Mastering the Fat Loss Mindset" and he shows you how to
achieve your fat loss goals for good!

Here's Dax Moy talking about goal-setting for weight loss.
Use his tips and tricks to help you stick to your plan for
good!

"What is it that you actually want? What is it that you
actually want? Not, what will you settle for, what seems
realistic.

What is it that you actually truly want if I were to wave a
magic wand in front of you right now and say okay, in 2008
all of your dreams are going to come true and given you
already, in relation to your body, how it's going to look,
how it's going to perform, how it's going feel, then what
would you ask for right now with magic wand in hand?

And that is really the goal that people should be setting
for themselves. That's really the goal that people should
be attacking when the new year comes in certainly.

And that's really the only type of goal that's going to
hold enough power to keep you on the straight and narrow
for long enough. Because when you feel really passionate
about something, things don't feel like an effort. We all
know that. We've all read books that we absolutely love,
and we get lost in the time and we can't believe it's, we
can't believe that four hours have been gone by while
you've been reading.

It's no different with any form of a passion. When you are
truly moving toward a passion, when you are truly enjoying
what you doing and you can really see where the potential
benefits of pursuing that passion lie you'll stay on track.

If, on the other hand you set a goal that's smaller because
someone has told you what you've, what you're asking for is
unrealistic, the chances are in that moment where they've
told you that you are being unrealistic, what they also did
was, was beat a huge chunk of your passion around the head
with a rubber mallet and actually told you to stop being
silly. Don't invest so much passion into this and hey, just
focus on the smaller goal.

That's the best way to fail, and I think that's one of the
biggest reasons why a lot of people do fail."

Powerful words! Dax has given you an incredible plan for
Mastering the Fat Loss Mindset. By doing so, you'll be
prepared for all of the obstacles in your way as you work
towards weight loss.

So stick to your plan through proper goal setting. Start by
identifying exactly what you want. Don't settle for less.
Aim high, and then adjust your mindset to achieve permanent
weight loss.

Will Your Dry Skin Cause Wrinkles?

Will Your Dry Skin Cause Wrinkles?
Many people are under the misconception that their dry skin
is the cause of their wrinkles. However, this is not
necessarily the case. While dry skin is not a direct cause
of wrinkles, it can make the skin appear to be aged. This
is simply because of the complexion of the skin when it is
dry.

Having dry skin certainly won't help to keep a youthful
appearance, and the fact that the skin is overly dry is
almost certainly because it is lacking something. This
could be either in the fact that it needs extra hydration,
or because of a lack of sufficient exfoliation.

The surest way to give the skin the appearance of not being
quite so dry, and along with that also cause it to look
younger, is to ensure that the skin is well moisturized at
all times. It is also vitally important to ensure that it
is well hydrated, and that must come from within.

The best way to do make sure that your skin is sufficiently
well hydrated is to drink sufficient water throughout the
course of the day. This will ensure that your whole body is
well hydrated and your skin will naturally become a
reflection of that healthy state.

It is advisable to drink water throughout the day in
smaller amounts, and often, rather than trying to satisfy
your daily recommended amount by drinking large amounts at
one time. As in many other things, little and often is the
route to take. By getting sufficient water your skin will
appear to be translucent and clear.

There is another reason why your skin might give the
appearance of being dry even though you might be getting
sufficient water for your body to remain hydrated. This is
caused by the inevitable build up of dead skin cells on the
surface of the skin. These dead skin cells can make the
skin look dry when, in actual fact, it is not dry at all.

By exfoliating your skin on a regular basis, thereby
removing these dead skin cells, you will get an improved
view of the real condition of your skin and this will also
allow you to moisturize the skin better.

So, does dry skin cause wrinkles? We have now seen that a
combination of sufficient water intake, good exfoliation of
the skin and a good moisturizer can do wonders for your
skin condition and help prevent those dreaded wrinkles from
appearing.

The Truth About Buying Medications Online

The Truth About Buying Medications Online
Perhaps the most asked question from those seeking to buy
medications online is whether or not it is legal (and safe)
to do so. The answer, as with anything else you can buy
online, is yes and no. There are many safe and legitimate
places to buy medications on the internet and there are
places you simply do not want to do business with.

Finding them is the challenge. Despite some common
misconceptions, it is in fact legal to buy prescription
medications online. As long as certain guidelines are
followed and conditions are met, buying medication can not
only be more convenient but also considerably cheaper than
purchasing from brick and mortar pharmacies. According to
the FDA:

"Legitimate pharmacy sites on the Internet provide
consumers with a convenient, private, way to obtain needed
medications, sometimes at more affordable prices. The
elderly and persons in remote areas can avoid the
inconvenience of traveling to a store to purchase
medications. Many reputable Internet pharmacies allow
patients to consult with a licensed pharmacist from the
privacy of their home. Moreover, Internet pharmacies can
provide customers with written product information and
references to other sources of information like the
traditional storefront pharmacy. Finally, the increasing
use of computer technology to transmit prescriptions from
doctors to pharmacies is likely to reduce prescription
errors"

Purchasing from foreign countries is where the gray area
begins. Many regions (the U.S. being one of them) have laws
regulating the purchase of prescription medication directly
from overseas companies. The reason for this is to help
protect U.S. consumers from being prescribed the wrong
medication or receiving medication that is of a different
strength than what is normally prescribed in the States.
Some foreign countries however have attempted to circumvent
this by using a distribution company inside the United
States.

Tips for Buying Medications Online

* Spend time looking over the website and figure out how
long they've been in business and what their policies are
on shipping, ordering, etc.

* Look for verified seals that are recognized by country
from which you are ordering medication.

* Find out whether or not a pharmacist is available to
assist you with your pain medication order and to answer
questions.

* Ask the company you are dealing with if they not only
take the orders but ships them as well, fraudulent
companies usually do not ship.

* Ask for the expiration date of the medication you are
buying to avoid buying outdated medicine.

* Avoid offers that look too good to be true, they likely
are. Buying medication online can be cheaper but high
discounts (60%+) are not realistic and should be questioned.

In the end, buying medications online can be both
convenient and cost effective. Caution should be exercised
when deciding on an online pharmacy to purchase from but
this goes without saying and applies to anything you buy on
the internet.

As with all medical issues, filling your medication
prescription should not be done without seeking the advice
of your doctor and having a clear understanding of your
condition.

Wooden Hot Tubs in Spain

Wooden Hot Tubs in Spain
Hot Tubs and Hot Spring Spas have been used for a lot
longer than people are generally aware of. The Romans
clearly new that the beneficial effects of the water was
helpful to their general well being. I say this as the
Romans had very large public bathing facilities for many
hundreds of years, the majority of which were heated. This
was accepted as being very much a daily activity for men of
all classes and indeed many women. Bathing today is
considered a private activity carried out in the home but
bathing in Rome was very much a communal activity carried
out usually in public baths.

One has only to look at the Roman Baths and there is a
prime example at Bath (so aptly named in Great Britain)
that survive to see that in many ways they resemble the
modern health spas although one imagines and hopes that
they were less expensive.

The acceptance of bathing as the main event in daily life
belongs to the Roman way of doing things and at the height
of the Roman Empire, the thermal baths embodied the ideal
Roman way of urban life.

Another culture in a different continent many thousands of
miles away with a long history of hot tub use is found in
the Land of the Rising Sun Japan. These were Called
'ofuro,' and these smaller, stand-alone spas have been in
use for many centuries by Japanese families.

The Japanese and eastern cultures have a long history of
alternative medicine such as acupuncture reflexology and
Reiki spring to mind In Japanese culture cleanliness is a
concept which is on a par with compulsive behaviour. This
can be seen from the important custom of taking off one's
shoes before entering a house, They say that in Japan
cleanliness is on a par with or similar to godliness What
is the point of this one might ask well it is simply that
there is ample evidence that the Japanese of long ago
undoubtedly understood the importance of hygiene and much
of the therapeutic value of taking a simple soak in Hot
Water on a regular basis.

Today in modern Japan the Japanese people continue to
honour this age old tradition. In many Japanese Households
you will find elaborate wooden hot tubs.

In the United States of America, the history of Hot Tubs
spans at least two time lines.

In early American history before the 1800's there are
many stories that have been recounted legendary heroes -
George Washington and Alexander Hamilton, are two names to
mention - who were using natural hot springs to soak their
bodies to help ease pains and relive the stress of those
days.

Native Americans are also believed to have discovered and
used the springs for the very same purpose.

Much later around the early 1900s, the resort spa movement
began to grow in popularity in the United States in many
ways following the European style of Spa that had been
gaining in popularity for many years. The name Spa comes
from the Spa resort of Spa in Belguim.

These Spa resorts were built around naturally occurring hot
springs, and sometimes around man-made equivalents in some
instances. Some of the Health Spas in Scottsdale near the
Camel back mountain in Arizona spring to mind. These
resorts tended to attract mainly wealthy patrons who were
attracted by the idea of the therapeutic results for
treating various ailments and of course that feel good
factor. The combination of warm soothing water combined
with massage and buoyancy delivers a sensation that not
only relaxes the mind and body, but also helps to heal and
soothe.

With jets strategically placed in the Hot Tub for maximum
benefit, each & every Hot Tub offers supreme therapeutic
support in a carefree setting. The Spa treatment helps to
increase blood flow and aid circulation, reducing &
relieving muscle strain, soreness, pressure and tension
throughout your body.

Clearly this was something that the Romans were very well
aware of. Calculated buoyancy (and a corresponding feeling
of weightlessness) blends perfectly with swirling warm
water to deliver a pleasant relaxing soak with healing
properties.

In fact, you'll feel noticeably better in just 20 minutes
using a Hot Tub. Not only does the warm, bubbling waters
melt away tension and strain, but they also provide a
gentle and effective massage targeting your joints and
muscles, helping you to a better night's sleep and helping
to relieve the pain of arthritis and other muscle-related
injuries.

In summary both Hydro-Massage Hot Tubs and the original
wooden Hot Tubs can both offer a great experience. It
depends on your personal preference and location of where
the Hot Tub is sited as to which one to choose.

The Most Common Complications Breast Implant Surgery

The Most Common Complications Breast Implant Surgery
There are over a million breast augmentation surgeries
performed each year and statistics show that this number
only continues to rise. Many of the women choosing to under
go a breast enlargement surgery do not become a statistic
and develop one of the standard complications. But for a
small percentage of women, this is not the case.

The most commonly seen complications are:

*Hematoma: a collection of clotted blood

*Seroma: a collection of the watery portion of the blood

*Infection: an infection often requires the implant to be
removed and left out for a period of time Infections
usually occur with the first 4 to 6 weeks. The general
consensus is that infection with Breast Augmentation occurs
in less than 2% of patients.

*Deflation: The deflation or rupture of an implant from an
injury, from wear and tear, or from an improperly under
filled implant.

*Double bubble: when the breast tissue may fall and create
one set of breasts and the implant staying in its rightful
pocket under the muscle creates the appearance of a bubble.

*Bottoming out: when the lower parts of the breast have
lost their tissue support and the natural crease is slowly
lowering itself.

*Capsular Contracture: hardening of the capsule surrounding
the implant

Understanding Capsular Contracture:

Capsular contracture is when the tissue around the breast
implant becomes hard, and squeezes the implant. The breast
can become compacted and very round, and in some cases,
have the "baseball" appearance. Your breast could look
deformed and it can be very painful.

It may happen repeatedly to one breast over and over or it
may happen to both breasts only once. This rarely ever goes
away on its own. Nor does it tend to stay "fixed" after a
revision surgery is performed. For the majority of women
who suffer from capsular contracture, it often becomes an
on-going issue.

Though the exact causes of capsular contracture are largely
unknown and it occurs in about 5% of patients, and that
translates into 5 out of every 100.

There are factors that can contribute to capsular
contracture, including:

*Germ contamination during implantation

*Seroma (the development of extra fluid around implant)

*Hematoma (internal bleeding) *Infection

*Smoking

*Placement of implant above muscle (when placed bellow the
muscle capsular contracture occurs with significant less
frequency)

There are known ways to help prevent capsular contracture.
Placing the implant under the muscle and massage therapy.
Sub-pectoral placement of the implant significantly reduces
the chances of developing capsular contracture and
massaging (and or compressing) the breast and implant for a
period of time from a few weeks, or for as long as you have
your implants, have been known to be effective.

If non-surgical methods do not work then surgery may be
necessary to correct the capsular contracture. There is
more than one surgical option available for treatment, and
you would need the recommendations of a board-certified
cosmetic surgeon to find out what you would need for you
own unique situation.

For each woman the desired surgical and long term results
are going to be different. If you find yourself in the
position of wanting to get as much information as you can
before you choose to have a breast enlargement or you are
one of the women who is experiencing any of these
complications, it is very important that you discuss your
questions and concerns with an experienced, board-certified
surgeon. These complications and most others are quite not
common and can be prevented by going into surgery healthy
and closely following post operative instructions.
