A Healthy Food Relationship and Weight Loss

A Healthy Food Relationship and Weight Loss
Everybody wants to lose weight. However, weight loss can
only begin with a healthy food relationship.

Nowadays, many men and women desire a healthy body image,
which is often a reflection of their overall health. Men
and women may look at their bodies differently: men focus
on their chest, arms, and abs, while women concentrate on
their waist, hips, and thighs. But weight loss for both men
and women begins with a healthy food relationship.

What is a food relationship?

Everyone, irrespective of the gender, has both a physical
and psychological food relationship. The former has to do
with satisfying the physical hunger, while the latter has
to do with the appetite, that is, the "desire" for food,
which is mostly psychological. Effective and permanent
weight loss is contingent on a healthy physical and
psychological food relationship.

To establish a good physical food relationship requires an
understanding of the science of eating.

Firstly, you have to understand that you eat to live, and
not live to eat. You become what you eat: what you eat and
drink becomes your body chemistry and your body
constitution. If you think you can eat whatever you like
and still get away with it, think again!

Eating determines if you are living in harmony with Nature,
which is the key to living a long life. You need to know
the logistics of eating: what to eat, how to eat, and when
to eat, especially the components of food. Eating is a
science, so treat it as such.

You eat only when you are hungry. Avoid voluntary eating,
such as when you make a beeline for the refrigerator as
soon as you walk into the house. Avoid emotional eating to
appease your emotions. Avoid sensory eating, which is
eating to satisfy your senses.

You eat only what is good for you. You need to understand
food criteria. Some of the foods you eat may not be foods
at all. For foods to be called "foods," they must meet
certain criteria.

Foods must be living: they must contain enzymes. The
vitamins, minerals, carbohydrates and proteins in foods are
all lifeless unless they are activated by enzymes. Heating
and preserving easily destroy the enzymes in foods.
Therefore, the way you cook your food, and the types of
food you consume are important to your food relationship.
Processed and preserved foods neither protect nor preserve
your health. To preserve enzymes, go for a raw food diet
every now and then, and do not overcook your food. Steaming
is the healthiest way of cooking because the food does not
have direct contact with the heat source. Deep frying, on
the other hand, is the worst method of cooking.

Foods must support your internal bowel ecology. They must
facilitate absorption of nutrients and disposal of toxic
waste. Foods must help digestion and elimination, which are
critical to healthy eating.

Foods must not trigger unfavorable food reaction. Dairy and
wheat products may cause food allergies.

Foods must not cause sharp surge of molecular changes in
your body, such as a sudden increase in your blood sugar
level, or wide fluctuation of neurotransmission caused by
caffeine or other chemicals.

Foods must provide adequate calories for your physical
activity, but not "empty" calories, which provide little or
no nutrients. Consuming empty calories is tantamount to
working extremely hard while being unfairly underpaid.

Foods must balance your body chemistry in order to
neutralize and eradicate free radicals, which are oxidative
stresses that destroy your body cells. Foods must balance
your the acid and alkaline level in your body, with no more
than 30 percent acid-forming foods, such as meat proteins,
and 70 percent or more alkaline-forming foods, such as most
fruits and vegetables. All pharmaceutical drugs are acidic.
Many health experts believe that a balance of acidity and
alkalinity, known as balanced pH level in your body will
make you disease-free.

Eat only quality foods: eat, whenever possible, only
organic foods. Some of the best foods in nature include the
following:

Chlorella is a green single-cell algae cultivated in fresh
water ponds. With its grass-like smell, it has the highest
concentration of chlorophyll than any other plant in the
world. With more than 20 vitamins and minerals, as well as
the essential 8 amino acids, chlorella is the perfect food.
In addition, it detoxifies by removing toxins and metals
from your body.

Wheat grass is another life-giving food rich in enzymes
easily assimilated to boost your immune system. It is one
of the best sources of chlorophyll, which provides oxygen
for your brain and body tissues for longevity. Wheat grass
absorbs as many as 92 of the known 102 minerals from the
soil. Wheat juice, in particular, is a superior
detoxification agent compared to carrot juice. It enhances
your digestion, relieves your sore throat, keeps your
bowels open, reduces your blood pressure, and improves your
cholesterol.

Make the effort to establish a healthy physical food
relationship through your choice of food and your method of
cooking. Learn to follow Nature's prescription of suitable
times for your meals. You lunch should be the heaviest
meal, since your digestive fire is at its maximum potency.
A late dinner or binging before bedtime may interfere with
your body's mechanism to detoxify and digest food from the
day, making you tired the next morning on waking up.

A healthy physical food relationship is a must for weight
loss and optimum health.

(My next article will be on psychological food
relationship.)

Your Workout Plan: Scheduling Your Way To A Better Body

Your Workout Plan: Scheduling Your Way To A Better Body
Working out can be tough. Do you want to know one of my
best secrets that will help you guarantee you exercise
every day and get into better shape permanently?

I hope so, because here it is.

It's a little strategy that can very much help you or
anyone to make sure that you get your physical activity in
every day. What is it?

Simply put you have to schedule your workouts into your day
just like it was a business meeting or a proposal or
anything else that is mandatory in your life.

If you just go through the day you will never find the time
for your workout or exercise session. You have to make the
time, just like you would with any other important
activity. Even if it's just a quick exercise session using
only your bodyweight.

A good way to summarize this up is with a quote by Stephen
Covey: "The Key is not to prioritize what's on your
schedule, but to schedule your priorities."

Just like with anything in life if it is important enough
to you, you will find a way to fit it in your daily life,
no matter what you think your current schedule is like!

This is perhaps the most important concept for dramatic
results. It's the first base to weight loss. Just getting
your workouts into your overall fitness plan.

Without those scheduled workouts planned into your weekly
schedule, there's a fairly high change that you will not do
them at all.

You'll just go through each day waiting for that "perfect"
opportunity for your workout, which seems to never come
your way.

You then find out it's 9PM and you still haven't gotten
your exercise in. So you just decide to put it off until
"tomorrow", however, we all know that "tomorrow" is never
"today".

So this cycle of tomorrows never ceases and you stay the
same.

Break this pattern of insanity and start today by
scheduling your workouts into your schedule as mandatory
appointments. And not just the exercise, whether it's the
food prep, meal planning, cooking dinner, making your whole
week of meat, cutting up veggies, or any other activity
that will help progress you along your quest for fitness.

Put these activities along with working out into your
weekly schedule that can't be broken. Then plan weach week
at the beginning of the week so you schedule your workouts
as priorities above all other tasks.

If you need to start by clearing out all the garbage (junk
food) in your pantry, then start with that.

What is Anoxic Brain Injury?

What is Anoxic Brain Injury?
Traumatic brain injury can damage the brain, but acquired
brain injury can also cause permanent brain damage through
anoxic brain injury. Anoxic brain injury occurs when the
brain does not receive oxygen due to an interruption in
blood flow or breathing, or some toxin prevents blood from
being delivered to or used by the brain. The lack of oxygen
results in cell death. The level of injury is determined by
how long the brain is deprived of oxygen. Brain cells begin
to die after four minutes. Permanent injury can take place
in five minutes.

With anemic anoxia, the blood is unable to carry enough
oxygen to the brain. Toxic anoxia is the result of toxins
that block oxygen in the blood from being used by the body.
With anoxic anoxia, no oxygen is being supplied to the
brain because breathing has stopped or blood flow is
impaired. Hypoxic brain injury occurs when the brain's
oxygen supply is reduced, rather than cut off completely.

Anoxic brain injury is an acquired brain injury, rather
than a traumatic brain injury (TBI). TBI occurs when an
outside force impacts the head hard enough to physically
injure the brain. Anoxic brain injury leads to a change in
the activity of the neurons, which can produce varying
types and levels of impairment. Because the brain damage
occurs at a cellular level, rather than to a specific area
as with traumatic brain injury, the entire brain can be
affected.

Symptoms of Anoxic Brain Injury

Symptoms can be similar to those seen with traumatic brain
injury, but some are seen more often, or are more
pronounced, in someone with an acquired brain injury. These
can include:

* Loss of consciousness;

* Seizures;

* Impaired cognition, especially memory and attention span;

* A longer time in a coma or vegetative state;

* Significant behavioral changes, including depression,
restlessness and hostility; and

* Impaired motor control.

A mild to moderate anoxic brain injury can produce
headaches, confusion, mood swings, decreased concentration
and attention span.

Causes of Anoxic Brain Injury

Anoxic brain injury can be caused by a variety of factors,
including:

* An obstructed airway, as with choking or strangulation, a
severe asthma attack or allergic reaction, or trauma to the
head, neck or chest;

* A near-drowning;

* Electrocution/lightning strike;

* Severe bleeding;

* Heart attack, stroke or aneurysm;

* Exposure to toxins through illegal drug use, carbon
monoxide poisoning, lead poisoning, etc.; or

* Some diseases, including meningitis, tumors, hypoglycemia
or hyperglycemia, hepatic encephalopathy, uremic
encephalopathy, etc.

Anoxic Brain Injury: Diagnosis and Treatment

Diagnosis typically begins with a physical exam and an
interview, if the patient is conscious. Diagnostic tests
such as a CT scan, MRI or EEG (electroencephalogram) may be
used to determine the nature and extent of the brain damage.

Immediate treatment is to establish an airway and provide
oxygen for the patient. Respiratory assistance, such as CPR
or a ventilator, may be necessary. Further treatment
options may include the use of barbiturates to slow down
brain activity, and steroids or other medications to reduce
brain swelling. Treatments to increase the amount of oxygen
to the brain, including hyperbaric oxygen therapy, may be
used.

Specialized rehabilitation can help, including physical,
occupational and speech therapy, as well as
neuropsychological counseling for the behavioral and
emotional aftermath of the injury; but brain injury is
rarely completely curable. Recovery can be a long process
that depends on the level of damage, and is often
incomplete. Brain damage treatment is typically aimed at
improving the patient's quality of life.

If you or a loved one has suffered from an anoxic brain
injury or a form of traumatic brain injury, you may wish to
consult with an experienced traumatic brain injury
attorney. Your TBI lawyer can help you gain access to the
resources you need and help you attain monetary
compensation for brain injury acquired through negligence
or employment.
