The Risk Behind Diet Pills

The Risk Behind Diet Pills
We live in a world were the race for a quick fix has become
part of our lives. We no longer have the patience to wait
for the things that we want. We live in a culture that
wants things now and not tomorrow. Weight loss is no
exception to this rule. The weight loss industry is a
billion dollar industry, and it feeds our cravings and
desperation towards losing weight. The weight loss industry
offers many quick fix solutions that do not always deliver
what they promise.

Diet pills are perceived as a quick fix for weight loss
without virtually any effort. They make all sorts of
wonderful claims but the reality of the outcome rarely
matches what that they promise. The problem is that there
are many diet pills which have risks that are attached to
them, and such risks will often outweigh any benefits that
you get from taking diet pills.

The thing is that many diet pills are not regulated by any
official body. This is because diet pills are considered to
be supplements. One of the main risks involved in taking
diet pills is the potential heart problems that they may
cause. This happens because a lot of ingredients in diet
pills work by boosting your metabolism. These ingredients
also speed up the rate that your heart works at. If you
already have a heart problem then clearly the risks of
taking diet pills are magnified.

Many people often become reliant on diet pills, to the
point were addiction is the result. When you are taking
diet pills that stimulate your heart and metabolism to go
faster then taking these pills over a long period can lead
to dire consequences.

Some diet pills claim to suppress your appetite. If this is
the case, then on the face of it you may think that this
will be a good thing. However if you have a high calorie
intake and you start taking a diet pill that suppresses
your appetite, what will happen that you will cut back on
the amount of food you eat. Unfortunately your metabolism
will not think of this as a positive situation. It will
think that you are starving and it will take steps to
protect you. It will do this by decreasing its ability to
burn calories. No burning calories equals no more weight
loss.

Exercise is the best and safest method to speed up your
metabolism, and not diet pills. When you exercise your body
requires calories to cope with the activity. This means
that you don't have to necessarily cut large amounts of
calories from your diet. All you have to do is to replace
the calories that come from bad food, with calories that
come from good food. Another important factor to consider
is, that if you eat two or three times a day then you will
need to change this to eating five or six times a day. Just
split the calories you eat over five or six meals instead
of consuming them in two or three meals. These smaller
meals allow your metabolism to work more efficiently and
help you to digest your food more quickly and more easily.

If you do go for the option of taking diet pills, then make
sure your approach is cautious. Consult your doctor about
the pill that you want to take and get a professional
medical opinion on the advantages and disadvantages.
However don't just stop there, do your own research. Look
on the internet and research the ingredients of the pills.
Discover if there are risks to your health and what side
effects to expect. I know some tablets often say that some
side effects could occur in rare circumstances. However do
you really want to be one of those people who fall into
'rare circumstances' group? At the end of the day it will
be your decision, but keep in mind that any results that
you may achieve will not be long lasting. Also when you do
stop taking the diet pills, the probability of any weight
that you may have lost coming back, will be pretty high.

The safest and most workable method towards losing weight
is a healthy diet and a good exercise programme. The side
effects from both of these will all be positive. On top of
this you will have the knowledge that you had the
determination, commitment, and will power to do it the
right way, and not by clinging to some small hope that will
never bear fruit just by taking diet pills, along with the
risks that go with them.

Weight Loss Programs: 3 Reasons Why One Is Not Enough

Weight Loss Programs: 3 Reasons Why One Is Not Enough
No, Weight Loss Programs in the title is not a typo. It
really is plural and was done intentionally. I did it for
a reason. Well, 3 reasons really and I want to share them
with you today.

The first reason being that you want to break the mindset
that there is one and only one right way for you to eat.
Don't think of yourself in terms of "Oh, I'm a Lo-Carber"
or "Oh, I can't eat anything that has a J or T in the
name." Over time you will find a program that works for
you on a regular basis but there will be times when your
goals change. There will be times where you want quick
weight loss and one of the many weight loss programs will
work better for those times.

A low carb diet can be great for dropping a few pounds and
getting back into that little black dress for the big
party. That same program may not suit you for maintaining
your weight. Remember, you can't lose weight forever and
if you are always eating like you are trying for weight
loss you are not developing the right mindset for getting
to your goal weight and maintaining it.

Once you find a few different programs that work for you,
change them up as you want. Some weight loss programs are
better than others depending on the situation. Go low carb
for a month or two. Switch to a higher carb routine for
the holidays or a vacation. There are no restrictions on
what you can do with this and it can make life easier
knowing that.

The second reason is that you will end up cutting out of
your diet a whole bunch of healthy foods... forever. Many
of those restricted foods have great health benefits when
eaten as part of an overall sensible eating plan. Even
donuts in moderation are good for the soul. I said in
moderation, stop trying to rationalize that 1/2 dozen
chocolate glazed donuts. There are not enough
anti-oxidants in chocolate to justify it.

The third reason is that you will unnecessarily complicate
your life with restrictions and variety is the spice of
life. When going out to eat or to a party you can't always
control what is available. And once you start on the path
of diet envy from watching other people enjoying themselves
and you can't have one little taste it is hard to stay on
track. Unless you have a medical or religious reason don't
deprive yourself.

In addition to keeping things interesting you avoid some
diet pitfalls. Keep in mind that your thoughts follow your
actions. If you think one way and then do another you
create emotional conflict. For example if you think of
yourself as an "Anti-J/T Food" dieter and then have a Tuna
steak for dinner followed up with some soothing Tea you may
start mentally whipping yourself and that can derail your
future efforts. You get enough grief from your parents
don't start creating more problems for yourself.

Find a few different weight loss programs that work for you
and use them when you like. Some are more adaptable to a
maintenance diet than others and some can help you shed fat
like magic. Ultimately, don't complicate your life through
unnecessary restriction. Life is too short and you need the
little pleasures along the way.

Aloe Vera Can Help Nearly Any Health Challenge & Science Has Now Proven Why!

Aloe Vera Can Help Nearly Any Health Challenge & Science Has Now Proven Why!
My son's "un-curable" health issue & lessons from
continuing education for doctors & nurses (Certified by the
AMA) taught us how profound Aloe Vera really is -- across
the board, for any health challenge you may face. Here's
Why.

A major discovery was made recently regarding Aloe Vera &
how the human body functions & communicates. So profound,
that multiple Nobel Prizes in Medical Research were awarded
for this discovery and yet, because drug companies
influence nearly all doctor's continuing education, your
doctor probably doesn't even know about this Aloe Vera &
Glycomics based discovery -- So significant that MIT has
called Glycomics "one of ten technologies that will change
the world" (Feb 03 issue).

In a nutshell, glycomics is the emerging, new study of how
certain Aloe Vera type monosaccarides are organized on the
surface of every metabolically active cell in YOUR ENTIRE
BODY! These saccarides provide a protective coating and
communication coding system for every single cell. If they
are lacking, due to inadequate nutrient intake, your body
knows how critical they are and it will work overtime to
try and make them with it's backup system - but this
requires a lot of energy, enzymatic processes, & breakdowns
occur over time.

Aloe Vera contains Mannose which is one of eight of these
critical saccarides -- scientifically proven &
physiologically required by ALL of your cells -- Mannose is
found in Aloe Vera as well as in some other plants. Of the
eight needed, because of modern agricultural methods such
as green picking, only two (sometimes three) of the
building block nutrients are available today in our modern
diet. Verifiable at www.longevist.org Newsletter 8B.

If you can buy your produce from an Organic Farmer's Market
and consume primarily vine ripened, fresh fruits &
vegetables, you will give your immune system a good boost.
This type of eating will strengthen your cellular defense,
cell to cell communication, & help build essential
structures called glycoproteins. You can investigate the
importance of Aloe Vera, Mannose & these cellular
structures by visiting www.pubmed.com and searching the
term: glycoproteins (over 20,000 articles).

But for simplicity, imagine if you had a cellular phone
that required eight wires for the antenna to work
properly,...yet five of those wires were broken or missing.
You might hear, like when you go through a low or "dead
spot", about every fourth word. How impossible and
frustrating is that? Well that's the struggle your body is
involved in every single moment -- cellular communication,
and the Nobel Prizes proved this.

Our son's condition was resolved after supplementing his
diet so that his body could then easily build these
critical structures. There are three options I know of for
getting these Aloe Vera type, plant based nutrients to help
fight off illness -- And to repair and restore both short
and long term health.

Sugar: Why is it so Addictive?

Sugar: Why is it so Addictive?
Fighting Cravings for Sweets

So I've always wondered why I crave sugar so much
especially after I eat a meal. I have not gone one day
without finding something with sugar in it to satisfy my
urge. Some days I get a little carried away.

Why does this happen?

Sweet cravings come about for a number of reasons. In order
to defeat these cravings, it is important to understand why
they occur.

Part of your cravings exist due to habit. You must have
satisfied this craving in the past following a meal with
something sweet. Then suddenly it becomes a part of your
mindset. After every meal must come dessert. The good news
is ALL Habits are learned, so this habit cam be unlearned
as the result of practice and repetition.

Your cravings will continue to exist if you eat simple,
refined carbohydrates or high sugar foods. The day you cut
out the sweets is the day you take control and stop the
cravings. Cravings exist because we feed them and allow
them to exist. Yes, it is an addiction, but one we choose
to have.

Take a peek at what is happening inside your body when you
do make this choice. My hopes are that you will think twice
before giving in.

Eating simple carbohydrates causes a spike in your blood
sugar for these foods are quickly absorbed into the blood
stream. This in turn gives you the temporary sugar high -
it feels good....however, our body does not like this
imbalance and a series of hormonal responses take place.

Your body produces an increased amount of the Insulin - a
storage hormone. In order to facilitate this rush of
insulin, glucagon - a release hormone - is diminished.

What does this hormone game mean to you? Each time you
consume simple sugars and refined carbohydrates, you are
doing nothing more than locking in fat.

Even worse? This cycle will continue for once your blood
sugar levels hit bottom. You will Crash due to the excess
insulin. Your body reacts once again for at this point your
energy level bottoms out, you have trouble thinking clearly
and you end up with cravings. You will inevitably crave
sweets as these foods will raise blood sugar the quickest,
getting you out of your slump.

The blood sugar High/Low cycle repeats - again and again
and again...

Think of a roller coaster. This is what is happening inside
your body every time you eat sweets.

The only way to stop the cravings.....is to get off the
ride.

Strategies to Eliminate your Sweet Tooth

1. Clean out the Kitchen. Keeping sweets in the house will
actually sabotaging your chances to be successful. Replace
the junk with supportive options. For example, fresh fruits
and vegetable, nuts, string cheese, high fiber crackers,
etc.

2. Keep a Food Log Are you eating every 3 to 4 hours?
Skipping meals will cause your blood sugar levels to drop.
Be sure each meal and snack includes the right balance of
protein, fats and carbohydrates. Sometimes a craving occurs
due to a lack of protein and/or fats in your meal and
snacks. Simply eating an apple is not enough. Pair your
apple with a handful of nuts or some diced cheese cubes.

3. Wait it Out Did you know a craving lasts for about 15
minutes - then it goes away. Make a list of things you can
do to distract you for 15 minutes. When a craving
hits....grab a bottle of water and get to that activity -
you can even set a timer. Once you hit 15 minutes...your
cravings are gone and you are EMPOWERED!

4. Are you Stressed? Some cravings are STRESS related.
Practice other ways to cope with stress - go for a walk ,
spiritual connections, a cozy fireplace, hot baths...all
these stimulate neurochemicals that activate regions of the
brain that stimulate pleasure associated with eating
something sweet.

5. Break Old Habits. One way to take control and make a
change is to keep a journal - sure enjoy a big glass of
water or cup of hot tea - but do so as you write down what
you are craving...why you are craving it....give the
craving a name and talk to it....find out what it
wants....tell it why it is not welcome at this time....I
know, sounds corny - but does help you gain insight and
control over such thoughts and beliefs - then you have the
power to change them.

By simply "doing" something different after dinner, you can
overcome this habit. After dinner, brush your teeth, chew
on a piece of gum, sip on some hot tea that has a naturally
sweet taste (this one has been my lifesaver....a licorice
based tea has a wonderfully sweet flavor).

Remove yourself from the environment where you normally had
your sweet dessert or treat. If you normally eat it while
watching TV - turn off the TV and distract yourself with a
good book, play with your children, listen to some music,
write in your journal....

You will be amazed at how powerful a few little lifestyle
habits will give you the control you need to deal with and
overcome those nagging cravings.

LAUGHTER: Five Easy Tips to Get Your Daily Dose

LAUGHTER: Five Easy Tips to Get Your Daily Dose
The other day my daughter's boyfriend sent me a funny video
clip, something he loves to do. Because I was frazzled due
to a deadline, I almost didn't open it. But I did and it
changed my day. The clip made me laugh out loud. Laughing
changed my attitude. My day didn't seem so difficult
anymore.

Laughter is a wonderful activity. With children, it seems
to come naturally. It's not so easy with adults. At some
point, we get cautious about our laughter. After all, we
are ADULTS and life is something to take SERIOUSLY.
Laughter stops coming as readily as it did when we were
kids. Yet, laughter is essential and it needs to be a
regular part of our lives.

Why? Because laughter has been proven to reduce stress,
lower blood pressure, improve the immune system and, in
general, make a person feel good. As a preventive
technique, it's also extremely easy to use. In addition,
laughter is as contagious as a yawn. This means if you
share it, you're just spreading the BENEFITS of laughter.

What can YOU do to increase your own laughter quotient?

First figure what you find funny. Do you like cartoons,
jokes, funny video clips or something entirely different?
Knowing what tickles your particular funny bone will help
you create more opportunities for laughing.

Next, find ways to expose yourself to the things that make
you laugh. Think of it as creating your own "daily dose of
laughter". Here are some activities that can help you add
laughter into your daily ritual:

1) Keep a favorite funny picture, cartoon or video clip on
your computer's desktop and look at it during your day. As
I love cats, my favorite video shows cats doing silly
things. It always makes me laugh.

2) If you watch TV, consider watching a cartoon show. It
is fun and something you can do with your kids. Also,
consider watching more comic movies or TV shows. For
example, I learned the value of this when I watched the Ice
Age animated movies and fell in love with a demented
squirrel!

3) Set up a "laugh a lot" group among your friends.
Exchange jokes or other humorous things. It helps if you
share the same type of humor or the group agrees to what is
considered to be appropriate humor.

4) Find humorous websites that you can visit. There are
sites for everyone's type of humor. For example, here's a
site that gives you a variety of choices to increase your
laughter:
http://www.bestsearchers.com/best-websites/humor-jokes.html

5) Try something really different. For example, join a
Laughter Club. These free clubs invite people to come
together and practice laughing. They do this because there
is evidence that laughing out loud is beneficial to a
person's health and well being. For more information on
Laughter Clubs, visit: http://www.laughteryoga.org.

You can add other activities to this list that will
strengthen your funny bone. The main idea is to make
laughter a part of your daily life.

Think about it. What would happen if laughter was just as
important as brushing your teeth, eating, and exercising
daily? These are things we do to keep ourselves healthy.
Why not use laughter for the same reason? It can be the
best preventive medicine you take!

Losing weight with weight loss diet

Losing weight with weight loss diet
I'm a preacher of using a combination of diet and exercise
to lose weight, but for those who lack the discipline to
exercise, here are some tips to help with your diet. Don't
expect miracle, but it helps with weight loss if you
practice the following methods.

The fact is, it is possible to lose weight on diets alone.
Ever heard of the saying ...you are what you eat...

There are many diet programs out there that can help you
with weight loss. The only problem is, for better profits,
marketeers hype up the diet programs too much and promise
miraculous results. Read on and discover some real facts
about lowing weight with weight loss diets.

Eat a lot of fruits and vegetables. Make them your main
meals and stay far, far away from processed foods. Then,
drink lots and lots of water. Think it's common knowledge?
Let me explain the facts behind this diet...

What I'm teaching you is a method called the Detox diet. It
cleanses your body system to remove toxins from your body.
This method of diet enhances energy levels, improves your
skin texture and the overall well being of your body.

When you follow this method of diet correctly, you could be
looking at losing 4 pounds in just three days! That's not
bad right.

One thing though, putting yourself on a straight detox diet
should not be something that you do for a long period of
time. Your body needs many types of different nutrients in
order to help you stay healthy. If you're serious, follow
the detox diet for 7 days and your body should be cleansed
enough. Fall back to your normal diet but control your
portions. After a gap of two months or so, you can try the
detox diet again for another 7 days. Remember, don't go on
with your detox diet for more than 7 days in a roll.

This is so important I just gotta say it again, putting
your body on a Detox diet can help you rejuvenate your body
and remove toxins from it. However, when you do it for too
long, your body then lacks the nutrients it needs. So,
please, do not go on a Detox diet for more than 70 days.

You might be obsessed to lose weight, but if you want
really great results, I still recommend you to combine a
healthy diet and exercise in order to maximize your weight
loss success.

To your weight loss success.

Cheers!
