Aloe Vera Juice for Healthy Digestion, Weight Loss, Detox and AntiAging

Aloe Vera Juice for Healthy Digestion, Weight Loss, Detox and AntiAging
The use of aloe vera for health and healing is popularly
known. We have used aloe vera for health and healing for
centuries. The aloe plant is related to the onion/garlic
plant and also the lily plant. It's appearance is very
similar to cactus. Aloe vera contains nineteen amino acids,
twenty minerals e.g. calcium and magnesium, enzymes,
polysaccharides, nitrogen and twelve vitamins. These
compounds account for its popularity as a source of
nutrition, a healing agent, and valuable cosmetic enhancing
agent as aloe aids in the elimination of dead skin cells.

Aloe is most popularly known for it's external application
for skin disorders, wounds, and sunburn. However, many of
us are discovering the tremendous health benefits of aloe
for internal use taken in juice form. Aloe vera helps heal
internal tissue damage as effectively as it helps heal
external tissue damage and promotes new cell growth. Aloe
vera has been used as an anti inflammatory in treating
various stomach disorders. Those of us suffering from
indigestion or irritable bowel syndrome have received
relief from aloe vera juice. Used for it's laxative action,
aloe vera helps eliminate toxins e.g. heavy metals. Aloe
vera also reduces stomach acid which is the cause of
heartburn i.e. acid reflux. A healthy digestion system is
essential for maintaining optimal health and preventing
illness and disease caused by toxins that are reabsorbed
into our bodies if they are not eliminated.

Because of aloe vera's beneficial effects on our digestive
system, it has become an efficient and effective aid for
weight loss. Aloe vera helps to reduce and stabilize our
body mass index as it promotes the metabolism of fat
content. As aloe vera juice helps to assimilate protein in
to our bodies and provides a high content of collagen
protein, it helps promote the availability of more energy
for our daily physical activity. Many of us use aloe vera
juice before, during and after our exercise sessions as it
promotes muscle development which is vital for the burning
of fat and weight management. Aloe vera juice also reduces
the amount of time food stays in our intestinal system
through it's elimination promoting properties. This
greatly promotes cleansing of toxins and waste which is
essential when we are participating in a weight loss
program.

Along with strengthening our immune system with vitamins
and minerals, aloe vera juice balances blood sugar levels
and aids in the reduction of cholesterol and blood fat
lipid levels. Also vera actually helps our bodies absorb
the vitamins and minerals we are receiving from other
sources giving greater nutrition to our cells. Aloe vera as
an enzyme aids in the metabolism of carbohydrates, fats,
and protein. Aloe Vera juice improves our blood circulation
by stimulating our capillaries to dilate and helps regulate
our blood pressure as well as fighting infection in our
blood and body with anti-bacterial and anti-fungal
properties detoxifying our blood. This action in our blood
helps our immune system protect us from onset of disease
and so gives us a feeling of well being and energetic
living.

As an anti inflammatory, aloe vera promotes the healing of
our bones and joints. We have used aloe vera externally in
gels to soothe sore muscles and joints due to stress, over
use, arthritis, etc. Used internally, aloe vera juice
promotes the relief of pain and the increase of recovery
from the inside.

Drinking aloe vera by itself can be a daunting task because
of the taste. However we have available to us various aloe
vera juices flavored with natural fruit juice flavors to
enable the drinking of aloe vera juice to be a very
pleasant as well as a beneficial health experience.

Does Resveratrol In Red Wine Solve The French Paradox?

Does Resveratrol In Red Wine Solve The French Paradox?
Resveratrol is a polyphenol type flavonoid currently
exciting great interest as a potential boon to health.
Like other flavonoids and polyphenols, it is a very useful
anti-oxidant in its own right, but resveratrol has
attracted particular attention as a potential solution to
the so-called "French Paradox".

This is the term used to describe the phenomenon, which has
long been a puzzle to medical science, by which rates of
cardiovascular disease in France have remained low relative
to those in the rest of the developed world, despite the
widespread national consumption of a diet high in animal
fat and cholesterol, and a firmly entrenched tobacco habit.
Of course France also enjoys many of the benefits of the
so-called Mediterranean diet through its high intake of
fresh fruit and vegetables, oily fish and olive oil, but
there are good reasons to think that the consumption of red
wine may be the real explanation of the apparent paradox.

It is known in any case that the moderate consumption of
alcohol has a significant protective effect on the
cardiovascular system, reducing disease by as much as
20-30%, but conventional medical opinion is
characteristically cautious in acknowledging that the
resveratrol in red wine may have any benefits over and
above those which would in any case be provided by the
alcohol. However, the role of fat-soluble anti-oxidants
in protecting the circulatory system from damaging free
radical attack is well understood, and it would therefore
appear that the resveratrol and other polyphenols contained
in red wine can only be beneficial. Laboratory tests,
moreover, have shown resveratrol to have significant
anti-coagulant and anti-inflammatory effects.

For the purposes of obtaining your intake of resveratrol
from wine you need to know that it's contained principally
in the skins of red or black grapes, and is consequently
found in significant quantities only in those wines
produced by an initial pulp fermentation which allows the
developing alcohol to leach both colour and other
substances, including resveratrol, from the skins. It
follows that the longer this pulp fermentation is allowed
to continue the more resveratrol the wine will contain. So
the colour of the wine is a handy guide. Generally, the
richer and darker the colour of the wine the more
resveratrol will be found. Rose types and light reds may
contain some, but white wines produced by a juice
fermentation alone will provide little if any.

Usually it is the red wines produced in the sunnnier
climates close to the Mediterranean, and the New World,
which will be richest in resveratrol, and dark red wines of
this type may provide as much as 2 mg of resveratrol in a
small 5 oz glass. But unfortunately from a health point of
view, these also tend to be the strongest in alcohol and
the so-called "congeners" which accentuate hangovers.

But fortunately for those who dislike red wine, or are
concerned about alcohol intake, other sources of
resveratrol are available. The amount in foods varies
widely, but the best sources are peanuts and red grapes,
both of which may provide anywhere between 0.3 and 1.3 mg
of resveratrol per cup. Bilberries and cranberries may
also be a useful source.

Supplements of resveratrol are also now readily available,
principally in the form of red wine or red grape extracts,
which will also contain other anti-oxidant polyphenols.
Manufacturers' recommended doses will typically provide
between 10 and 50 mg of resveratrol, which would require a
very high, and potentially hazardous, level of wine
consumption to achieve regularly.

That said, there is no known toxicity from taking
resveratrol, as such, although its blood thinning
properties will tend to inhibit the blood's clotting
ability and resveratrol is therefore not recommended for
those taking anti-coagulant drugs such as warfarin, or
certain types of anti-inflammatory including aspirin.
Needless to say, however, toxicity problems of a different
kind may occur if alcoholic drinks are used to excess as
the principal or only source.

But as noted above, moderate consumption is generally
recognised to be beneficial to health, particularly for the
cardiovascular system. So the message seems to be: if you
want to enjoy a couple of glasses of wine with your dinner
then go right ahead. And have that age old pleasure
enhanced by the knowledge that the resveratrol it contains
is also doing you some good.

Weight Loss and Money

Weight Loss and Money
Weight loss doesn't have to be expensive but combined many
of us spend a fortune each year in our quest to lose
weight. The reason we do this is quite simple. We are
always on the lookout for the next sure thing that is going
to act as a shortcut towards losing weight. The fact
remains that there are no real shortcuts towards weight
loss.

It takes time to lose weight, just as it took time to gain
weight. Nobody has ever gone to bed thin and woke up
overweight the next morning. It takes months or years for
people to become overweight but many of those people expect
to lose weight in a matter of weeks, and when this doesn't
happen they feel disappointed and give up trying.

Many industries that have sprung up around the issue of
weight loss, produce and try to sell products that are
claimed to be the holy grail of weight loss. The truth is
that no one product is going to achieve what it promises.
Successful weight loss is based on a combination of actions
which will include:

Eating smaller meals more frequently, replacing unhealthy
foods with healthy foods, being more active in your life,
having a varied exercise plan, changing the way that you
think of yourself.

Unfortunately people hang on to the small hope that the
next miracle product will help them to lose weight. They
buy it then when they realise that it is not working for
them, then what do they do? They wait for the next product
to appear, and they continue to follow the same process
again and again.

Deep down most people will know what they have to do to
lose weight, but on the whole they tend to ignore this
knowledge, and while they keep doing this, they will keep
failing. If there was one particular product that could
guarantee the results it promised, then everyone would use
it and weight issues would not be a problem. However there
is no such thing as a miracle weight loss product that is
going to work for the majority of people.

Let us look at 2 types of products which are basically
money making machines for the people that produce and sell
them.

Fitness DVDs

The industry of fitness DVDs is huge. Celebrities release
or endorse them with promises of helping you to get the
type of body that you have always dreamed of. They tell you
that a certain method of exercising has helped them to get
the bodies that they have, and now you too can get the same
body by buying their DVDs. Admittedly many of the exercises
on these types of products can be beneficial, but that is
not the whole story.

Don't fall into the trap of thinking that these people look
the way that they do because of the product that they are
trying to sell you, because they don't.

Remember that they can afford to hire the best personal
trainers to help them achieve their goals.

Remember that they can afford to buy the healthiest foods.

Remember that they can afford to have their homes equipped
with professional gym equipment.

Remember that the main reason that they initially became
celebrities was because they already were beautiful and had
great bodies. Not all of us are fortunate enough to have
great genetics.

Remember that if all else fails, they have the money to pay
for all their fat to be sucked out of them through medical
procedures.

Buying some celebrity's DVD is not going to guarantee to
give you the body that they have unless you fall into the
majority of the above.

Another thing to keep in mind is why do celebrities make
and endorse these types of products?

Do they really want to help people who are desperate to
lose weight? Did they suddenly get this selfless thought
during an expensive facial? Do they really want to make
life better for you? Do they know you? Do they care about
you?

My guess is that most of these celebrities make these
products to make life even better for themselves by
persuading you to give them your money. Perhaps I am being
too cynical; perhaps they do genuinely care about your
welfare. I know! after purchasing one of their products try
contacting them personally. Ask for some advice on exercise
or weight loss. I'm sure they would be more than happy to
help you; after all they do want to help you. They tell you
as much on their DVD.

Exercise products

More people waste money on exercise gadgets than anything
else. People see the adverts, the persuasive hard sell, and
the selfless endorsements. Before you know what's happened,
you have swiped out your credit card and placed your order.
You wait religiously for 28 days for your product to
arrive. You have visions about how great you are going to
look after using this product.

The reality is very different to your visions. The reality
is that you will use the product a few times, realise that
it's harder than you thought, and you will hide it away in
some dark corner so you don't have to be reminded of how
much money you have wasted.

Have you ever noticed how well muscled and toned the people
in the adverts are? Did these people really get 18in arms
by pulling a few cables 5 minutes a day? Did these people
really get toned and tanned bodies just from the product
that they are using?

Of course there are other people on these advertisements
who used to be overweight and are now slim. They imply that
their results came directly from the product. Did they
achieve what they did without changing their diets and
lifestyles? Why would these people say that they owed their
success to a particular product?

If you had lost a lot of weight and someone told you that
they would give you a couple of thousand bucks if you said
your weight loss was a result of their product, would you
refuse? I know that I wouldn't.

The fact is that people can be persuaded to buy anything
through clever advertising. The most important thing that
you have to keep in mind is no product is going to make you
lose weight, only you can do that. Any product is only
going to be a part of a weight loss plan. The most
important parts of any weight loss plan are going to be
motivation, commitment, determination, and perseverance.
Focus on these 4 factors and you will lose weight. Without
these 4 factors you will not.

Mesothelioma Treatments

Mesothelioma Treatments
Malignant mesothelioma is difficult to treat for several
reasons. Like all cancers, it becomes more difficult to
treat after the disease progresses. And because
mesothelioma doesn't show its symptoms until decades after
the patient is exposed, it is often not found until it has
reached advanced stages. Unfortunately, mesothelioma is
also easily misdiagnosed, further delaying treatment. When
the disease is found, it frequently doesn't respond well to
conventional cancer treatments. The nature of mesothelioma
-- which affects tissues that line some of the major organs
of the body -- means that it cannot easily be removed with
surgery. And treatment can also be complicated by the
demographics of its victims -- generally, men over the age
of 50 -- whose health may not allow very radical treatments.

All of this means that even newly diagnosed mesothelioma
patients sometimes are given a very bad chance of recovery
by their doctors. Statistics are hard to come by, but
British scientists suggest that 10% of newly diagnosed
mesothelioma patients will live for at least three more
years; 5% will live five years or more. For patients in the
first stage, 50% live for at least two more years. But
doctors can be wrong, and a mesothelioma diagnosis is not
necessarily a death sentence. Famed scientist Stephen Jay
Gould lived with peritoneal mesothelioma for nearly 20
years. He eventually died from a different type of cancer.

There are four stages of malignant mesothelioma, which
measure how far the disease has progressed. How a patient's
mesothelioma is treated depends largely on which stage he
or she is in when the disease is found.

* Stage I: Localized mesothelioma that exists only in the
lungs, the diaphragm or the pericardial lining.

* Stage II: Advanced mesothelioma that has spread into the
lymph nodes of the chest.

* Stage III: Advanced mesotheioma that has spread into the
wall of the chest, the center of the chest, the lining of
the heart and the diaphragm. Stage III malignant
mesothelioma may or may not have spread to the lymph nodes.

* Stage IV: Advanced mesothelioma that has spread far from
the chest and abdomen into other organs.

Surgery

Patients with Stage I or milder Stage II mesothelioma are
generally offered one or more of the conventional cancer
treatments: surgery, radiation and chemotherapy. For
early-stage patients, surgery for mesothelioma aims to cure
the disease by literally cutting the cancer out of the
patient's body. The most common type of surgery for pleural
mesothelioma is a pleurectomy/decortication, which is where
doctors remove all or part of the tissues lining the lungs
and chest cavity. If doctors find that they can't remove
the cancer without removing the lung underneath those
tissues, they may remove one lung as well; this is called a
pneumonectomy. A more radical type of surgery for pleural
mesothelioma is called an extrapleural pneunonectomy (EPP).
In an EPP, doctors remove parts of the pleura, one lung,
the lining of the heart and the diaphragm. These are
difficult and dangerous surgeries that doctors won't
recommend lightly.

Patients with peritoneal mesothelioma -- the kind that
affects the abdomen -- may be offered cytoredutive surgery.
In this surgery, doctors are trying to remove all of the
cancerous tissue they can find in the abdomen and gut. They
may also choose to do a peritonectomy -- removal of the
entire lining of the abdomen. Again, this is not an easy
surgery and may not be possible for everyone, but it has
been successful in some patients. Patients with pericardial
mesothelioma are not generally offered surgery.

Radiation and Chemotherapy

In addition to or instead of surgery, doctors may offer an
early-stage mesothelioma patient chemotherapy, radiation or
both. Radiation and chemotherapy are designed to kill the
cancer cells without killing the patient. Unfortuantely, in
order to kill the cancerous cells, these treatments often
kill healthy cells as well. This is why cancer patients
often lose their hair, have trouble eating and feel
generally weak and sick during treatment. Doctors who
prescribe chemotherapy or radiation may also suggest
dietary supplements or other measures to control these
symptoms.

Chemotherapy gives patients a drug designed to attack the
cancer cells as they divide. The drug is swallowed or
injected into the bloodstream regularly over a period of
weeks or months, in cycles that give a patient some
recovery time in between treatments. Patients can live at
home and just go into a doctor's office for the treatment;
sometimes, they can even have the treatments at home. In
some cases, doctors may choose to apply chemotherapy drugs
directly to the cancerous tissue; this requires surgery, so
patients must check into a hospital. There are many
different kinds of chemotherapy drugs, and scientists are
trying to develop better ones every day.

Radiation therapy seeks to kill the cancer cells with
high-energy rays of radiation, such as x-rays, that stop
them from growing. In external-beam radiation, patients
endure directed beams of radiation aimed at the parts of
their bodies where the cancer lies. This treatment lasts
about 30 minutes a day and is given in the exact same way
each day over a period of weeks. In internal radiation
therapy (brachytherapy), doctors put a container of
radioactive material next to the cancerous tissue, using
surgery or an existing body cavity. Some will be left in
the body; others will be removed and replaced. Finally,
radiation is sometimes administered through radioactive
drugs (radiopharmaceuticals), which are injected, swallowed
or placed directly into a body cavity.

How Can I Lose 10lbs In 30 Days?

How Can I Lose 10lbs In 30 Days?
Is it possible to lose 10lbs. in 30 days? Depending on
how much you weigh this may or may not happen. If you weigh
190 lbs. you could lose the 10lbs in 30 days.

A smaller person it would be much more challenging to do.
A woman that weighs more will be able to lose more weight
initially and 2lbs. per week is fine, anything more than
that is going to be mostly water and muscle.

Every woman is always looking for fast weight loss. I
would also focus more on fat loss and not weight loss
because fat loss is more permanent. Many women focus too
much on scale weight when really it doesn't give you the
full picture of what is going on.

You could lose 10lbs of fat while gaining muscle and the
scale might only go down by 5lbs. That is where women will
go nuts because they are so focused on what the scale says,
and not what their clothes are doing.

If you're clothes are looser than you are going in the
right direction and you look better. I have had many women
look like they lost 10lbs on the scale but in reality they
only lost 3 or 4 pounds on the scale.

In regards to the question about losing 10lbs in 30 days
for fast weight loss. First off, you have to be dedicated
to the process because if you're not then the weight or fat
you lost will come right back on.

You must first condition your mind and re-program it for
ultimate fat-loss without doing this you will never get to
your goal. I discuss many times how your subconscious mind
is responsible for 97-98% of your beliefs and habits and
your conscious mind is only 2-4%.

So once you have that down, then you can look to see what
you are doing for your nutrition. This is crucial in losing
weight/fat as you must have a deficit in your food intake
but also make sure that the foods you are eating are what I
call "fat burning" foods.

All foods are not created equal, which means some foods
will burn fat in your body, while others will store fat!

I give these examples in my system so there is no guess
work. For example a piece of chicken and a piece of white
bread containing the same calories will break down
differently in your body.

Forget about those diets that have you counting points
because it won't work in the long run, they will only ruin
your metabolism since it's focusing on weight loss and not
fat loss.

You need to make sure you are eating high quality,
fat-burning foods so you can increase your metabolism. If
you don't eat enough then your body will put on the brakes
to burn fat. Eating smaller meals throughout the day will
also help your body to burn more fat and keep your energy
levels up.

Let's take a look at exercise now. Weight training will
build lean muscle and believe me you want that because the
more lean muscle you have the faster your metabolism will
be.

I suggest 3-4 weight training sessions a week. These
sessions should be fat-burning in which you are using
weight that is challenging and working out your whole body.
Keep rest in-between set short as well.

Cardio should be intense. Walking will not burn as much
body fat as doing interval or HIIT training. These are
short, intense sessions that will keep you breathing hard.

Go at a pace where you are breathing heavy, but let me
caution you if you are new to this pace yourself. Doing
things too much too soon is not a good idea. If you do 5-7
cardio sessions (30-45 minutes) that are intense you will
start to notice your fat melting away.

Keep in mind you need all these components when trying to
lose fat/weight quickly and safely.

My best advice is to think long-term and in doing so it
will stay off and you will feel better about the process,
instead of just fast weight loss with temporary results.

The Stress Reaction

The Stress Reaction
Stress is a part of every human's life, and has been quite
frankly since humans first came to be. Stress serves
important functions in certain situations, but chronic
stress or excessive stress can be quite damaging. The
problem is that in modern life, it's not at all difficult
to fall into patterns of being frequently stressed. Many of
us feel overburdened and underappreciated, and this
perspective alone is enough to cause a stress reaction.

A frequent cause of a stress reaction is anxiety. Anxiety
in a general sense is a worry or apprehension about some
event, often something in the future. Anxiety isn't the
only cause of stress, to be sure: stress can result from
anger, sadness, loss, and various other emotional outlooks.
There's also the stress that comes from eager anticipation,
sometimes referred to as good stress.

When a person experiences stress, the body typically
releases cortisol into the bloodstream. Cortisol is a
hormone that causes physical changes in the body's
response. Specifically, cortisol increases blood pressure
and blood sugar. Cortisol is so frequent in the human
body's stress reaction that it's often referred to as the
stress hormone. From a biological standpoint, cortisol's
function is to prepare the body to physically respond to an
imminent danger. The increasing of blood pressure and blood
sugar provides the body an energy solution that can be used
in defense or to flee. Cortisol's origins likely go back to
the times when our human ancestors faced regular predatory
threats.

What makes cortisol an asset to the human body equally
makes it a detriment. Increases in blood pressure and blood
sugar, when they should occur frequently, cause
degenerative wear on vital body organs. Increased blood
pressure puts strain on the heart, the kidneys, the
arteries, brain, and other significant areas of the body as
well. High levels of sugar in the blood can literally
destroy bodily tissue. From a health standpoint then, we
want cortisol to kick in when we absolutely need it, but
not otherwise: the effects are potentially too damaging to
the body, especially where they occur consistently over
time.

Mainstream medicine has come to appreciate the detrimental
effects of stress, and entire medical programs are now
dedicated to reducing the stress reaction. The reality is
that most modern human beings very rarely if ever face
predatory threat, but the stress reaction remains in place
just the same. Turning this stress reaction off in all but
the rarest of cases would be a big boost to any person's
health.

Your Immune System- Let It Help You Thru the Cold & Flu Season!

Your Immune System- Let It Help You Thru the Cold & Flu Season!
The flu typically arrives later, in November, with the peak
season from late December through early March. Odds are
you'll catch a cold soon, if you haven't already this
season. The average American adult catches about two to
four a year. During the cold and flu season, step up the
hand-washing routine reminders. Since the two illnesses
share some similar symptoms, and both come during "cold and
flu season," the two often run together in people's minds.
While there is no way to cure the common cold or the flu,
there are several things that you and your family can do to
prevent them and stay healthy this season. It takes the
immune system about six to eight weeks to respond to
vaccination, one of the best times to get the flu vaccine
is mid-October to mid-November, before the
December-to-March outbreak.

Cold viruses are present year-round but the the incidence
of colds rise sharply in early fall, shortly after school
begins. There are over 200 different types of viruses can
cause a cold, one of which is the Rhinovirus, which means
"nose viruses". Flu or influenza is caused by viruses,
which infect the nose, throat and lungs. Spray the surfaces
in your bathroom and kitchen with a mild solution of 2 to 5
percent bleach in water to kill viruses and bacteria. Cold
viruses can be transmitted in one of two ways: by touching
respiratory secretions on a person's skin (when shaking
hands, for example) or on environmental surfaces (like
doorknobs or handrails) and then touching the eyes, nose or
mouth, or by inhaling infectious particles in the air (like
respiratory secretions from a cough or sneeze)."Coughing is
the body's natural way of getting rid of offending
viruses", because germs and viruses cling to your bare
hands, muffling coughs and sneezes with your hands results
in passing along your germs to others. A regular dose of
fresh air is important, especially in cold weather when
central heating dries you out and makes your body more
vulnerable to cold and flu viruses.

Healthy immune function is not only critical to rapid
recovery from common viral infections, but also determines
how resistant people are to contracting these illnesses.
Staying healthy begins with taking care of the inside,
balancing and strengthening and perhaps purifying one's
energies. Healthy bodies have an easier time fighting off
infection and clean hands are a powerful tool toward
healthy bodies. On the other hand, without proper care or
attention, a flu virus can lead to bronchitis or pneumonia,
each of which can cause permanent health damage.

Pregnant women who have a high-risk condition should be
immunized regardless of the stage of pregnancy; healthy
pregnant women may also want to consult their health-care
providers about being vaccinated. The single most
important thing you can do to strengthen your immune system
is to eat a healthy, balanced vegetarian diet, according to
some studies. Optimum health is a philosophy; a way of
life; a lifestyle. It means that your community is
committed to health promotion and disease prevention.

To stay healthy and rev up your immune system: get plenty
of rest eat a well-balanced diet exercise regularly
decrease stress cut back on unhealthy habits, such as
smoking and over consuming alcohol. Studies have shown that
a session of moderate physical activity produces positive
effects on the immune system. To get the immune power from
garlic, crush the cloves with the flat side of a knife
before adding them to your food. This releases the garlic
juice, which has great immune properties. Vitamin C, found
in citrus fruits and juices, also helps the body's immune
system. Lack of sleep however can lower the immune
system's ability to react when needed. Without sufficient
sleep, the immune system is hard-pressed to keep up with
its nightly repair work, and creates an opening for
opportunistic diseases. A balanced diet, with the right mix
of vitamins and minerals, also keeps your immune system
strong and resistant to flu and colds. Another popular herb
is Echinacea, a dietary herbal supplement that some people
use to treat their colds. Oregano extract — which
comes in oil or in capsule forms — can also help
boost the body's natural immune system and support
respiratory health.

The bad news is, you may find it impossible to completely
avoid a cold or the flu. The good news is you can help
yourself try to avoid getting the seasonal sickness and
treat yourself if you do succumb -- up to a point: See a
doctor if you get sick and don't get better in a few days
after healthy doses of water, chicken soup, sleep, soap
operas and endlessly repeated "news. More good news from
the good doctor: It's not too late to get a flu shot if you
haven't yet.

Do you realize you are what you eat?

Do you realize you are what you eat?
Each time you sit down to a meal you are making a life –
death decision. Does that sound scary? I hope it does
because whatever you are eating determines whether you will
be healthy or unhealthy. This has been proven over and over
again that you are what you eat. Now granted you may eat
some things periodically that are not good for you but it's
not wise to continue to do so day after day.

I've heard some of my friend's say. " I eat whatever I
want, If I can't eat what I want I just as soon die." Well
some of them have died and others have some serious
illnesses or diseases. So I believe this is a very foolish
thing to say. Why would anyone want to subject their bodies
to foods that cause discomfort and health problems?

It's really amazing how many natural things are available
to help us be healthy and keep us healthy. Yet this
information is not widely known by the general public. Most
doctors don't tell you. The drug companies sure won't tell
you. You very seldom ever hear it or read it in the press
either

I never became as conscious of my health or my wife's
health until she was diagnosed with breast cancer about
four years ago. Even though we believed we were eating
healthy we didn't realize that some foods we were eating
were not very healthy to eat. That's when I met a
naturopathic doctor and got more advice. I even started
doing some research on my own too.

Wow! Did I get a terrific education on health matters.
Since then I have kept up my research and education even
more intensively now. I learned that food can be your
"Miracle Medicine" More than 9,000 scientific studies have
proven beyond doubt that food is your best medicine.

I know you have heard the famous saying, "an apple a day
keeps the doctor away" I never knew how true this was until
I started my research. Apples have been proven to be
potent weapons against cancer, heart disease, asthma, and
type 2 diabetes.

Strawberries and raspberries contain a compound called
ellagic acid. One of the best cancer fighters Mother Nature
ever created. When eating these fruits this compound enters
the bloodstream to help vanquish cancer cells on contact.
By eating a bowl of oatmeal for breakfast or eating pears
you can regulate your cholesterol. They can help keep your
LDL (bad) cholesterol below 130 and HDL (good) cholesterol
above 65.

It's also helpful to consume foods that contain soluble
(dissolves in liquids) fiber, such as beans, barley, oats,
peas, apples, oranges and pears. Soluble fiber reduces the
absorption of cholesterol from the intestines into the
bloodstream.

There is virtually a cure or prevention for every disease
or illness. So for anyone who has not learned the benefits
of healthful eating let me encouraged you to start your own
education on the subject today. You can find a lot of good
information on the Internet. There are also health
newsletters you can subscribe to. And many books on all
kinds of health issues are widely available today.

It's sad that most people are not getting honest answers
about their health. It's sad people are swallowing large
amounts of worthless prescription drugs that are sometimes
causing more serious ailments then before they ever started
taking them in the first place.

So I guess the only thing to do is to keep preaching good
health ideas to people I know and meet. I'll also continue
spreading healthy information in my bimonthly newsletter
and the articles I write and submit to directories.
Hopefully someday if there are enough of us preaching
healthy information wherever we can we will eventually
convince people that they truly are what they eat.

Creatine, the Real Muscle Builder

Creatine, the Real Muscle Builder
Next to protein, creatine is the most effective natural
bodybuilding supplement available today. Creatine is an
amino acid derivative that helps boost muscle and strength
gains. Proven safe and effective, it is no wonder that
creatine has become one of the most popular supplements for
bodybuilders and strength athletes. Ever since creatine
became popular in the 90s, scientists have been continually
trying to make it even better. We have seen all sorts of
formulations such as creatine citrate, creatine phosphate,
creatine malate, creatine tartrate, creatine ester, etc.

Using creatine can allow many bodybuilders to add 5 to 10
pounds of lean muscle mass in a matter of weeks. Hundreds
of studies have been published on the safety and
effectiveness of creatine. Most of these studies were done
on creatine monohydrate, which was the first and most basic
formulation of creatine to hit the market. Creatine
monohydrate was found to be safe and effective in most of
these studies.

How does creatine work?

Creatine has two important functions for bodybuilders.
First, creatine increases the size, or volume of muscle
cells, which is the amount of water each cell can hold.
This slight expansion of each cell causes the entire muscle
to expand which triggers even further muscle growth. The
second important function of creatine is that it provides
muscle cells with immediate energy in the form of ATP
(Adenosine triphosphate), which is absolutely essential to
perform bodybuilding exercises. Having extra ATP within
the muscle cells will allow you to perform more repetitions
than you normally could, which translates into greater
muscle growth.

Unfortunately, creatine is only effective for about 70% of
athletes and bodybuilders. Those who do not respond to
creatine may already produce enough creatine phosphate in
their muscles that supplementing with creatine does not
make much difference.

Different types of Creatine Formulations.

Creatine Monohydrate.

Creatine monohydrate was the first creatine supplement
available and is still the least expensive form of
creatine. Most people respond well to this basic creatine
powder, although some people experience bloating, diarrhea
or cramps. This can occur if the creatine powder is not
ground up into small enough particles. Most of the
creatine monohydrate available today has been micronized,
which means it is ground up into an extremely fine powder,
which mixes much more easily with water. If you decide to
stick with creatine monohydrate, be sure that it is the
micronized version. This is the type of creatine that I use
and it works great for me, and it is cheap!

Creatine Anhydrous.

Creatine anhydrous is simply creatine with the water
molecule removed. This makes the creatine powder slightly
more pure, but this is a minor advantage. Creatine
monohydrate and creatine anhydrous are more or less equal.

Creatine Citrate.

Creatine citrate came out shortly after creatine
monohydrate gained popularity. Creatine citrate is simply
creatine molecule attached to a citric acid molecule.
Citric acid is used for energy production, and the theory
is that when taken with creatine, the combination would
provide more muscle energy than creatine taken by itself.
Although this sounds good, it has never been proven through
research. Creatine citrate, when compared serving for
serving, supplies, about 40% less creatine than the
monohydrate form, but it may dissolve more easily in water.

Creatine Phosphate

Creatine phosphate also popped up soon after creatine
monohydrate first hit the supplement market. This
formulation of creatine is a creatine molecule that is
already bound to a phosphate molecule. The bonding of
these two molecules normally takes place inside the muscle
cell and is something that must take place an order for
creatine to be effective at all. Creatine phosphate was
very popular when it first came out. However, most
bodybuilders found out that it was somewhat less effective
than creatine monohydrate.

Creatine Malate

Creatine malate is one of the newest forms of creatine. It
is created by binding creatine and malic acid. Malic acid
as well as citric acid, is an intermediate component of the
Krebs cycle, which is the metabolic pathway that creates
aerobic energy inside the muscle. This means that malic
acid is important for energy creation which is believed to
make creatine malate more potent than creatine monohydrate.
Creatine malate also dissolves easily in water and creates
less stomach discomfort. Unfortunately, research on
creatine malate is rare at this time, so its benefits are
still in question.

Creatine Ester.

Creatine Ester is one of the more recent formulations of
creatine, and is technically known as creatine ester ethyl
hydrochloride. Developed by scientists at the University
of Nebraska Medical Center, this version of creatine is
basically an alcohol mixed with acid. The theory behind
this formulation is that it will allow the creatine to
permeate cell membranes more easily in the intestines and
muscle cells. This should allow the creatine to be
absorbed and taken into muscle cells much more quickly than
the other forms of creatine.

Effervescent Creatine.

This type of creatine has been around for a while and
creates an effect similar to Alka- Seltzer. The
formulation is usually a creatine citrate or creatine
monohydrate mix together with bicarbonate and citric acid,
which causes the effervescent effect to separate the
carrier from the creatine. The creatine left over can
dissolve more easily in water, and is prevented from being
destroyed by stomach acid and may be better absorbed in the
intestinal tract. Some studies have confirmed that this
type of creatine does indeed remain stable in water much
longer than creatine monohydrate does. This would be a
good formulation of creatine to use if you plan on mixing
it several hours before you drink it.

Magnesium Creatine.

This is a form of creatine that is bound to a magnesium
molecule. This protects the creatine from stomach acid and
allows it to be absorbed more easily. Magnesium must be
present in order for creatine phosphate to be converted
into ATP, which is what creates energy in the muscle. At
least one study has shown that this form of creatine causes
the muscle to take in more fluid and creates greater
strength than taking creatine and magnesium separately. If
you're looking two use this type of creatine, you're better
off buying the actual combination, rather than just adding
magnesium as a separate supplement.

With all the different types of creatine available today,
and with very little research showing one being better than
another, I personally would recommend sticking with
creatine monohydrate in the micronized form, unless you
are experiencing some gastric distress. If this is the
case, try some of the other versions to see if they work
better for you.

Recommended dosage is 5 g before your workout and 5 g after
your workout taken with 30 to 50 g of whey protein and 50
to 100 g of simple carbohydrates.

Thousands Now Improve The Quality Of Their Lives With Whole Health Foods

Thousands Now Improve The Quality Of Their Lives With Whole Health Foods
Whether you're in the midst of a rapid life reorganization
or you are just looking for small ways to improve that will
still make big difference, whole health foods are one way
to make sure that your quality of life goes up immediately!

There are plenty of benefits to eating whole foods and the
sooner you start the better you'll feel. While there are
plenty of ideological reasons to eat whole foods, you'll
find that there are plenty of immediate, tangible benefits
as well.

One of the most important reasons to eat whole health foods
is simply to see the difference that this diet will impart.

In today's world, if you're anything like me, you run
around from morning until night, and the food that is
readily available to you is no where near as good for you
as you would like.

The overly processed food that saturates our supermarkets
results in us eating more and still not getting the same
nutritional benefits or satisfaction that we would get from
a smaller amount of whole health food.

Do you remember food tasting better when you were younger?
Over the last few decades, food processing has increased a
great deal, leaving us with food that is poorer in tastes
and nutritional benefit.

Do you know that it would take 38 cans of todays spinach to
equal the nutritional value of just one 1954 can of
spinach. That is a big difference!

When you go shopping for whole health foods, you'll find
that your whole family benefits. If you have young
children, an increase in whole foods will improve their
memory and their attention span, something that is
essential during their early developmental year.

With older family members, a diet of whole health foods
provides a boost in energy. With more energy to spare,
I've found that people have a good deal more patience for
each other, something that any family can use!

Buying whole health foods is also a great way to introduce
environmental responsibility to your family.

Did you know that the normal processing that goes into
regular foodstuffs contributes heavily to air pollutants?
With this in mind, even a small thing like switching your
household over to whole foods can make an important
difference.

Eating whole foods is a way to be eco friendly while
integrating this theme into your family's regular life.

When we talk about leaving a legacy to our descendants,
we're usually talking about property or money or trust
funds, but what about things like their planet and their
bodies?

Through eating whole foods, your family is making an
investment in the future and ensuring that the planet your
grandchildren receive is as clean and as unspoiled as
possible.

Similarly, children who grow up eating well and healthily
not only pass on great eating habits, they also pass on
healthier bodies! Make sure that the legacy you leave your
great-grandchildren offers them more than just money and
financial security.

Take a look at your diet and then take a look at the world
around you. If you're looking for a way to make a
difference in both your own health and that of a planet
take a look at whole health foods!
