Weight Loss and Wii

Weight Loss and Wii
The Nintendo Wii console has had some suprising benefits.
It seems you can actually lose weight with the darn thing.
And you thought it was just for kids!

Can You Really Lose Weight With The Wii?

I think the answer is yes. By no means do I think this is
a major part of your serious weight loss goals, but with
the natural body movements it causes, one can indeed lose
something. The more you move your body, the more calories
you can burn. The sports games has a fitness trainer but
this has more to do with your skill level rather than your
ultimate health level. It still makes for a nice exercise
routine though.

I have personal experience with this game and by far, the
most calorie burning sensation I felt was with the Boxing.
Tennis is the second runner-up. All that punching at thin
air and and arm-swinging your virtual tennis racket is sure
to make me lose a few. Because of its fun factor, I do it
more often, thus burning more calories.

The Boxing game reminds me of Taebo. Same concept here so
it makes sense that you can lose weight playing the Wii.

Bowling and Golf are more casual movement games so I dont
feel like I am burning as much calories with those, and am
most likely not, but they do provide some nice movement and
stretching which is a good thing.

To get the full benefit from these sports games, one has to
perform the full range of movements as if you are really
playing the game and do this on a consistent basis. Then, I
think, weight loss can occur with fairly good results.

My muscles were sore for the first few days so I could
really tell which ones were not being used before playing
Wii Sports. I guess I really was getting some kind of
exercise.

Of course, the more you enjoy the game, the more you will
play it, and the more calories will melt be burned up. I
really enjoy the Tennis so I always break a sweat when I am
playing that game.

This is a fun way to break up the monotony of exercise and
have fun while enjoying some health benefits.

All in all, I think this is a very fun way to add some
activity into your lifestyle and burn some calories to boot.
