6 Nutritional Keys in Treating Fibromyalgia Symptoms

6 Nutritional Keys in Treating Fibromyalgia Symptoms
Fibromyalgia was recognized by the American Medical
Association as an illness and cause of disability in 1987,
yet fibromyalgia continues to be difficult to diagnose and
treat.

Today with the aid and resources of the internet, along
with a network of educated and supportive friends, patients
can now be proactive in their diagnostic approach and
treatment methods. Changing one's diet and reducing the
chemical stressors on the body that come from eating
inappropriate food have been found to be tremendously
helpful in relieving the symptoms associated with
fibromyalgia.

Get Started! To most effectively benefit, each person needs
to experiment to see what works best for their body. The
results will vary for each individual. The following tips
are a great starting point for easing symptoms and taking
control of fibromyalgia:

* Balancing your diet will allow your body to heal and move
towards its optimal state. The best way to do this is to
avoid foods that contain saturated fats (including ALL junk
foods) and to increase the intake of fruits and vegetables.
The daily consumption of water is instrumental in the
flushing out of your system. These simple changes will
allow your body to have a healthy foundation of nutritional
support.

* It is important to make sure your diet consists of large
amounts of lean protein and fewer carbohydrates. Lean
protein (skinless chicken, lean beef and fish) is one of
the best ways to fuel your body by keeping your energy
levels high and eliminating hypoglycemia. Carbohydrates in
small quantities are necessary for the body's production of
insulin, however in excess amounts they contribute to your
system storing fat.

* Maintaining good health means avoiding all products that
have caffeine in them (coffee, tea, chocolate). This is
crucial because caffeine is a diuretic and can exacerbate
the IBS symptoms often associated with those suffering from
fibromyalgia.

* It has been noted that wheat/gluten and dairy products
are important items to eliminate in your diet. You may
feel much better after eliminating these items as they are
common culprits that intensify symptoms.

* Eliminate alcohol. The combination of pharmaceuticals
and alcohol can lead to many unhealthy side effects and in
turn make symptoms increasingly worse. Some of the
prominent issues with alcohol consumption are the increase
of stomach, digestive tract, and bowel problems.

* In order to maintain a healthy immune system, you need to
reduce or eliminate refined sugars in your diet. By doing
so, tests have shown that patients will experience optimal
sleep patterns and fewer and less severe symptoms.

Positive Results The reduction of chemical stress on the
body can have an overwhelming positive result in managing
and reducing the symptoms of fibromyalgia. Altering your
diet will not only reduce symptoms, it will allow you to
have a better quality of life and be on your way to a
healthier and happier tomorrow!

How To Prevent Low Back Pain

How To Prevent Low Back Pain
Low back pain is an affliction that affects the majority of
people in our society. Statistically 90% of the population
will experience low back pain at some point in their lives.
The large portion of those people that do experience low
back pain will have a recurrent episode of pain at some
point in their lives. It has also been shown that those
people that are given the right education regarding their
low back pain can significantly reduce their chances of
having another episode of pain.

If you are one of the many individuals that have
experienced an episode of low back pain in the past and
would like to prevent a recurrence of these symptoms here
are some simple things you can do:

1. MOVE! Our spines were meant to move. Any static
position for too long a time can prove to be uncomfortable,
even painful for most people. Whether you are standing,
lying down or sitting you need to change positions and move
your spine frequently. The longer you are in any one
position the greater the stresses and force that load our
spinal ligaments and disc structures become. Frequent
movement can help reduce these stresses and minimize low
back pain.

2. AVOID sitting longer than 30 minutes at a time. This is
probably one of the hardest things for people to do but it
can be very helpful in preventing recurrence of low back
pain. Everyone should get up, move around or even stand
within every 30 minutes of sitting. The sitting position
greatly increases the pressure within our spinal discs
while standing can relieve this pressure, even if it is for
a short time. If you have a desk job get up and walk
around your desk once or twice. You'll be amazed at the
difference in how your back feels.

3. AVOID sitting or repetitive forward bending motions
first thing in the morning. Our spinal discs collect fluid
and swell while we sleep. For people with low back pain or
a history of back pain this swelling can make it difficult
and often painful to bend forward or sit in the morning.
It is better to spend more time standing and walking during
the first few hours upon waking to allow that swelling to
go down. This will make sitting and forward bending more
tolerable.

4. If you are involved in activities or an occupation that
requires repetitive bending and lifting it is important to
counter that forward bending motion with an opposite motion
- backward bending. This is accomplished by placing your
hands on your hips or in the small of your back and bending
backward at the waist. Bend backwards within your
tolerance without letting your knees bend then return to
the upright position. If this movement causes you
increased pain then don't bend back as far.

5. If you consistently wake in the morning with a stiff or
achy back then try lying on your stomach for 3 to 5 minutes
before getting out of bed. This may be uncomfortable at
first but may feel better with time. If your pain worsens
in this position then it is time to move.

6. POSTURE CHECK! We should all be aware of our postural
positions throughout the day. This includes standing,
walking, sitting, dynamic postures (i.e. bending) and lying
down. Be aware of the position of your low back and what
position feels best for you. The old school of thought was
that we all had to sit and stand soldier straight at all
times. This is not the case for everyone. Erect postures
can sometimes be painful for people depending on the
condition that they have. Some people need to keep their
low backs slightly flexed (or flattened) to prevent an
occurrence of pain. Try to maintain the spinal position
that is most comfortable for you keeping in mind that
frequent movement is still important to prevent low back
pain.

7. TIGHTEN YOUR ABS! This simple activity can work wonders
in preventing a recurrence of low back pain. Imagine a
line going from your belly button to the base of your neck.
Now use your stomach muscles to pull your stomach along
that imaginary line. This is a gentle contraction and you
should not use a lot of force to make this happen. DO NOT
hold your breath or "suck in your gut." You are simply
tightening your abdominal muscles so that it feels like
your stomach is drawing in. If this movement is too
difficult then try making an "S" sound (like a snake).
Making this sound will automatically contract the desired
muscles and cause your stomach to draw in.

These are some very simple things we can all do on a daily
basis to help prevent a recurrence or an onset of low back
pain. Remember - not all of these activities will apply to
all people at all times. If you experience any undue pain
with the performance of these suggestions then stop
immediately. Consult your physician or a licensed physical
therapist for further advice.

Anti-Cholesterol Drugs: A Background

Anti-Cholesterol Drugs: A Background
It is estimated by the American Heart Association that
nearly 1 in 5 Americans are candidates for increased chance
of heart disease, liver failure, and other serious health
complications due to high cholesterol levels. While this is
one of the most dangerous and prevalent health concerns
facing the US, it is also one that is moderately easy to
manage. As Americans become more informed of the
importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle, they are
increasingly exposed to advertisements touting the
successes of the prescription drug industry in remedying
this problem. Indeed, there are several
anti-hyperlipidemic (raised or abnormal levels of lipids
(fatty molecules) due to the influence of cholesterol)
medications available on the market. In fact, almost 30
million prescriptions are written each year for cholesterol
lowering drugs, accounting for $20 billion in annual sales
for the pharmaceutical industry.

The cholesterol cure-all for the pharmaceutical industry
came in the form of a kind of drugs called statins.
Initially, statins were prescribed in a pharmaceutical
regimen designed to fight high cholesterol. Statins lower
cholesterol by inhibiting a certain enzyme, which in turn
stimulates LDL (bad cholesterol) receptors in the liver,
resulting in an increased clearance of LDL's from the
bloodstream and an overall decrease in blood cholesterol
levels. Results are almost immediate; the first results can
be seen after one week of use and the maximum effect of the
drug can be seen after four to six weeks of therapy.
Reduction levels of LDL cholesterol are often between 30 -
50%, making this treatment plan a popular option for many
seeking to lower their risk for serious health
complications as a result of high cholesterol levels.

Recently, drug manufacturer Merck and chemical research
company Schering-Plough announced a new medication to
combat high cholesterol. Zetia, known chemically as
Ezetimibe, is an anti-hyperlipidemic medication which is
used to lower cholesterol levels. Zetia is marketed as an
alternative to statin therapy. It acts by decreasing
cholesterol absorption in the intestine. Zetia has also
been combined with statin therapy in a single pill marketed
as Vytorin.

On January 14, 2008, The New York Times reported that a
clinical trial of Zetia designed to show that the drug
could reduce the growth of fatty plaques in arteries
instead showed a growth of plaques. This trial, known as
the ENHANCE trial, was completed by the Merck and
Schering-Plough companies in April 2006 and the
manufacturers had initially planned to release the findings
in March 2007. However, the companies missed several
self-imposed deadlines, and in December 2007 finally agreed
to publish the results "soon" after the delays were
publicized in news reports. Additionally, the American
College of Cardiology stated in their press release for the
ENHANCE study that, "The results of the trial show no
benefit from the combination of ezetimibe (Zetia) and
simvastatin (sold together as Vytorin) over simvastatin
alone in terms of affecting the rate of
atherosclerosis(fatty plaque) progression." They went on
to say that, "this study deserves serious thought and
follow-up."

The evidence of some less scrupulous actions continues.
The release of the results came just weeks after the
announcement of a congressional investigation into the drug
companies' actions surrounding the study, which ended
nearly two years ago. The delayed results and the
questionable study surrounding Zetia have led many to
question its worth on the pharmaceutical market.

If you or anyone you know has taken Zetia and is concerned
about possible Zetia side effects or lower Zetia
effectiveness, it may be in your best interest to contact a
Zetia law firm or a Zetia lawyer for counsel on Zetia and a
possible Zetia lawsuit.

How Does Your Fitness Program Rate?

How Does Your Fitness Program Rate?
10 Easy Tips for Guaranteed Fat Loss Success

As a personal fitness coach, I find that I spend a good
portion of time talking with people and offering advice,
suggestions, tips, etc... to them on how accomplish a
myriad of goals. Usually pretty basic stuff, like what
should I eat, how should I train, how do I reduce my body
fat etc... and I find myself giving them all the answers
that they need to solve this problem, but many times they
still stand there with this look of "is that all" on their
face. There are no bells and whistles, secrets potions,
required to accomplish your fat loss goals. It's really
not as complex as many would make out to be; however it is
some what hard because it requires some effort and change.
So to make a little easier for all of those searching out
solutions, I have come up with my top 10 checklist for: fat
loss. The checklist are intended to be a guide line to see
if what you have been performing the basic principles
required to make positive progress toward your fat loss
goals. Enjoy!

Fat Loss Checklist:

1. What, Why, and How: what do you really want, why do you
really want it and how badly do you want it.

2.
Change is Uncomfortable: this why so many people start and
stop fat loss programs, because it is a little
uncomfortable to them. By no means am I advocating some
torturous and miserable life. However, changing your
habits/routines is always a little comfortable, but the
thing you have to remember is that it is a change for a
better YOU, and that soon these will be your new
habits/routines.

3. Drink Water: at least 1oz.
/pound of body weight.

4. Ditch the Infomercials
and Pills: they are playing on the "I want it now"
emotions. Search out find quality information usually your
best sources will NOT come from sources are not popularized
by the mass media.

5. Leg Warmers and Leotards
are Out: limiting your exercise program to strictly
aerobic exercise, is not the way to go, if anything this is
the fastest way to lose precious muscle, which may look
good on a scale but it is a metabolic time bomb in the long
run.

6. Consume Iron: I don't mean orally, I mean
use the free weights, dumbbells, and cables, etc..., and
pretty pastel colored dumbbells don't count. This is bar
none the best way to help lose fat, gain strength, and
improve the quality of YOUR LIFE.

7. Do Not Starve:
If you want to feel miserable and starve, get lost in the
desert for a few days. If you want drop some serious
amounts of body fat and get in the best shape of your life,
quality nutrients are the key, I am talking about. high
quality protein like fish, lean beef, chicken etc... all of
the vegetables that you can get your hands on and some high
quality carbohydrates such as rice, whole wheat, etc..

8. Count Your Sheep: sleep is one of the best ways
not only to recover from your training and the stress of
everyday life, but sleep also helps to keep your hormones
in balance. If you are not getting enough quality sleep (8
hours per night). Then not only will you be ill prepared
for you training, but the rest of your daily activities
will suffer.

9. Crank up your Furnace: Adding in
some anaerobic interval work is the right method to use,
you should only need to add in a 2-3 brief session (20-30
minutes each) of anaerobic intervals working at 80-100% of
your maximum effort and then recovering, and repeating the
process again, until you have completed your training.

10. Do Not be a Sheep: just because your friend
has tried something and it works for them i.e. Atkins Diet,
South Beach Diet, etc.... does not mean that it will work
for you. When you implement the 9 principles from above,
and make the need adjustments as you move along then you
will be successful.

As you can see by now its not all that complex; but more a
matter of applying good sound information to your fitness
program. Simply implementing these 10 easy tips and you
could very well be the one who lost 10,20, even 50lbs or
more of unsightly fat. That would rate as an A+ fitness
program in my book.

How to Naturally Treat Your Psoriasis

How to Naturally Treat Your Psoriasis
Psoriasis is a skin disease that affects how fast skin
cells mature and flake off. In a normal skin cell cycle,
skin cells take about a month to move from the deepest skin
layer to the top skin layer, where they die and flake off.
When you have psoriasis, this process only takes a few
days. What results is the formation of thick silvery scales
and dry itchy skin. Painful red patches can also develop.
For most people, it is just an appearance issue because
psoriasis can be very unsightly as skin flakes off. But
sometimes it can be debilitating if it is linked to
arthritis. Psoriasis is a long term condition and there is
no definite cure. But there are ways to reduce the
appearance of psoriasis the natural way. Read on to
discover some of the natural treatments for psoriasis.

If you eat a lot of fish such as salmon and sardines at
least twice a week this will help provide your body with
essential Omega-3 fatty acids. These fatty acids can really
help reduce inflammation and decrease the appearance of
psoriasis.

Another treatment for the itchiness and painful
inflammation of psoriasis is to eat chili peppers. Chili
peppers contain capsaicin which give chili peppers their
hotness. Capsaicin has been proven to be effective in
relieving inflammation.

This treatment for psoriasis is readily available, but
should be used carefully. It is sunshine, that's right just
sunshine. Put sun block on other areas of exposed skin and
leave the areas of psoriasis exposed. Sit in the sun for
short periods of time but be careful not to get burnt.

The spice oregano has been used for many years in cooking.
But did you know that oregano also has antibacterial
properties? A lot of people have used oregano with great
success to help with their psoriasis symptoms. It can be
taken internally or applied locally. But be aware that
oregano can cause contact dermatitis for some people.

Some studies have proven that shark cartilage extract can
help prevent the formation of new blood vessels. So how can
this help with psoriasis? Researchers think that the growth
of new blood vessels can play a huge role in the
development of psoriasis lesions. Another benefit of shark
cartilage is it's anti inflammatory properties. This
supplement is normally taken in pill form.

So if you suffer from psoriasis, check out these great
natural treatments. Find which one works the best for you
and use it to decrease your psoriasis symptoms.

Consumers Enjoy Perfect Smiles via Thin Veneers

Consumers Enjoy Perfect Smiles via Thin Veneers
One hundred years ago, people had few choices if they had
bad teeth. They just had to live with it if their teeth
were cracked, chipped, missing or even discolored. In fact
rumor has it that England's Queen Elizabeth I filled the
gaps where she had missing teeth with little rolls of
cotton.

Times have changed, and with modern technology and new
cosmetic dentistry techniques people's smiles are
transformed by today's dentistry. It used to be a concept
of "no pain no gain" in dentistry, while today there's a
new saying -- "the smile you've always wanted without the
pain you've never wanted."

Porcelain laminates, or veneers, were first created by a
dentist at the Den-Mat Corporation. Also known as the brand
Lumineers, these veneers are very thin, in fact, very thin
like a contact lens.

There are many different techniques and procedures behind
cosmetic dentistry for replacing, repairing or reshaping
our teeth, such as oral implants, crowns, Invisalign
braces, and bridges. Whether you can benefit from veneers
depends on several things including how healthy your teeth
are in the first place. Teeth are made from enamel which is
the hardest substance in your body. You still need to be
careful not to chip the enamel by doing something like
cracking a nut or opening a bottle cap with your front
teeth, because the enamel cannot repair itself.

Let's say you have fallen down and cracked a tooth during a
sports activity. Your dentist may want to consider using
veneers to fix your tooth. Here's how the procedure works.
With an extensive range of shapes and colors available, you
and your dentist can select the shape and color to match
and enhance your existing teeth for a natural looking
smile. The veneers will be permanently bonded to your
existing front tooth, in place, so it requires minimal
preparation. The veneer will instantly attach to the front
of the existing tooth, covering the crack, and can even
improve the color and shape.

This dental procedure does not require grinding down the
sensitive tooth structure which is common when patients get
traditional crowns. It won't hurt so it's not necessary to
give you anesthetic shots. Clinically proven to last for 20
years or more, Lumineers can close spaces between teeth,
fix chipped teeth, provide better color to stained tooth
enamel, lengthen shorter teeth, and re-shape crooked or
awkward looking teeth. Veneers can also revitalize crowns
and bridges.

The results for this procedure are exceptional for
makeovers on worn, misshapen teeth, which are transformed
so people can smile with confidence. In fact many of our
patients thank us for helping to change their lives.

Many Los Angeles dentist clinics charge about $1,000 per
veneer, and many dentists can provide affordable financing
plans for patients who don't have dental insurance or can't
afford to pay for this kind of work via cash.

In summary, a great smile is worth more than you can
measure today, so why wait. Call your dental clinic today.

The 3 Biggest Mistakes You Can Make When You Have Sciatica

The 3 Biggest Mistakes You Can Make When You Have Sciatica
Sciatica can be an extremely painful and debilitating
condition. Oftentimes sciatica sufferers make treatment
decisions out of fear and a lack of undertanding of their
condition that can wind up being very big mistakes.

The first mistake is rushing into a surgery. While most
surgeons are very responsible about not being in a hurry to
do surgery, there are some doctors who recommend surgical
intervention very early on and before any other treatment
is even attempted. Sciatica resolves in approximately 80%
of cases without surgery. Even when surgery is successful
initially, the development of scar tissue and abnormal
mechanical stresses on the spine adjacent to the surgery
often lead to future problems. Given that low back spine
surgery overall has about a 50% long-term success rate and
people treated surgically often wind up worse than they
were prior to surgery, it should be reserved as a treatment
of last resort.

The exception to the rule of considering surgery as a last
resort is in the rare case of severe neurological
compromise known as "cauda equina syndrome", which may be
indicated by a loss of bowel and/or bladder control, sudden
severe weakness in one or both legs, and/or "saddle
anaesthesia" (a loss of sensation in the lower buttocks and
inner thighs). Except in the rare instance of cauda equina
syndrome though, it is generally better to avoid surgery if
possible.

The second mistake sciatica sufferers often make is
returning to normal activities too quickly once symptoms
improve. The vast majority of true sciatica cases are due
to bulging or herniation of one or more discs in the lumbar
spine, and the inflammation that typically is associated
with such disc problems. In many cases, slight
improvements in inflammation can result in dramatic symptom
improvement. Many sciatica victims mistakenly believe they
are back to normal as soon as they feel better, but the
reality is that the bulging/herniated disc is far from
fully healed, and too much exertion too soon can easily
trigger a recurrence of symptoms - sometimes even more
severe than they were to begin with. Even professional
physical therapists sometimes make the mistake of pushing a
patient to do too much too soon, with the result being a
return or increase in sciatica symptoms.

The third mistake people, including doctors, often make
regarding sciatica is to view it as a condition that can be
"cured". Because most people continue to engage in the
activities that caused the underlying disc problems to
develop that produced sciatica in the first place, the vast
majority of sciatica sufferers will experience repeated
episodes, usually becoming more severe and more frequent
over time. This is because the disc problems that produce
sciatica will gradually worsen over time if they are
neglected. Again, people mistakenly assume that the
problem is gone if the symptoms resolve. In fact, what
happens in many cases is that the spine and discs gradually
degenerate over time, making the person more and more
susceptible to sciatica episodes. Eventually, the
degeneration can become so severe that there really is no
effective treatment, and many people are left with chronic,
debilitating pain.

The good news is that for most people, sciatica can be
effectively managed long-term with awareness and simple
home exercises. Chronic pain and disability can be
prevented, but it does take a bit of time and effort to do
the appropriate exercises on an ongoing basis and to avoid
engaging in those activities that are particularly hard on
the spinal discs, such as repeated bending, improper
lifting, and poor posture (particularly when sitting). By
making the small effort to manage your sciatica, you can
avoid big problems in the long-run.

The Secret of Stubborn Weight Loss

The Secret of Stubborn Weight Loss
Patients with a stubborn weight problem usually have
underlying digestive issues. Many of these people, because
their digestive system is compromised, experience food
intolerances.

An intolerance to a particular food, or family of foods, is
a condition that often comes in under the radar. A patient
may have complaints that include bloating, swelling legs, a
rash, a filmy white coat on the tongue, feeling full in the
upper right quadrant of the abdomen, irritability,
restlessness, and back or shoulder pain. These complaints,
either alone or in any combination, may indicate a food
intolerance.

A forty- two year old woman gained over 35 pounds with the
birth of her second child. She was unable to lose the
weight. She consulted a weight loss clinic, followed the
program to the letter, and though it was an excellent
program, she did not lose even one pound after almost four
months on the program. Part in frustration and part in
concern, she consulted a medical doctor who suggested
surgery. She declined. When I checked her with muscle
response testing, it was determined that she was reacting
to nuts and cheese, the very things she frequently snacked
on. After removing nuts and cheese from her diet, she lost
almost eight pounds in three weeks. Oversensitivity to
Stress When you have a sensitivity to the amount of stress
you live under, and when you eat during those times, you
may experience bloating, flatulence, belching, and a
burning sensation. Gastritis and other stubborn symptoms of
stressful digestion are reported. When your body is under
stress, your digestive system is affected. Often at that
time, you may develop food intolerances. Mr. B.,
age 69, came to my office wanting to lose weight and
improve his energy. His body shape was the classic liver
belly, a large protruding abdomen. After two weeks on the
liver enhancement diet and supplement program, along with
eliminating dairy, he began to lose weight. After several
months, he had lost 20 pounds. Even more importantly, he
stated that he has more energy and vitality and has not
felt this good in 40 years! Your body's reaction to certain
foods may start with your digestion, yet it can act as a
stressor to your whole system, affecting other areas and
bodily functions. When our system is stressed in any of the
areas of the Triad of Health; structural, chemical, or
emotional, the body responds with the same stress response,
no matter the source. The brain stimulates the adrenal
glands to release cortisol, which acts on the liver to
break down glycogen into sugar for "fight-or-flight" which
in turn triggers the release of insulin. The insulin
brings the sugar into play for action, and if none is
needed by the muscles, the sugar goes back to the liver. If
not needed there because the liver has reached its maximum
capacity for it, it goes to fat storage. Thus, as our
bodies adapt to a chronic state of stress, say a structural
or emotional stress, our hormones become out of balance
creating an additional chemical stress on our system.
Good News The good news is that there are protocols to
determine which foods are the culprits if food intolerance
is the issue. Eating healthy, natural foods and knowing
which foods to stay away from, along with exercise, is a
way to successfully release fat and keep the weight off.

Is the "Fit Flop" the answer to the common flip flop sandal?

Is the "Fit Flop" the answer to the common flip flop sandal?
For years podiatrists have been maligning the flip flop
sandal as a cause of many common foot problems. In fact,
multiple articles have been published about the dangers
encountered in the current flip-flop phenomenon. Still,
most teenagers and young adults spend more time in
flip-flop sandals then any other shoes.

Engineers in the UK launched the "Fit Flop" as a stylish
way to strengthen your legs, thighs and "bum" muscles while
walking. Surprisingly, these also have been found to help
with back pain and do not cause many of the same foot
problems as the common flip flop sandal.

Why is this? The "Fit Flop" is engineered much like a
"barefoot technology" shoe. It makes the muscles that
stabilize the foot work harder and over a period of time
can actually strengthen your feet. The common flip-flop
actually accentuates pronation, the rolling in of your feet
which causes fatigue and biomechanical stress in your feet
and lower legs. This can lead to overuse injuries like
plantar fasciitis and posterior tibial tendonitis which are
commonly known as "arch fatigue" or "fallen arches".
Flip-flop sandals also increase the stress on the great toe
joint and can accelerate Hallux abducto valgus also known
as "bunion" formation. This does not happen with the "Fit
Flop" because of the varying EVA in the midsole which
actually accelerates the propulsion or "toe off" stage of
gait, therefore decreasing the stress on the great toe
joint. Patients with bunions may never take them off!

The makers of "Fit Flops" have some good science behind
their claim to increase muscle activation 10-12% and it was
verified by an independent lab outside their company.
Consumers should be cautioned to wear the "Fit Flops"
gradually because of the delayed muscle soreness that
occurs just like the beginning of a work out routine.

Is the "Fit Flop" the answer to your workout woes? Can they
cure your foot problems? Not even close, no shoe can do
that! They can help you burn a few more calories during
your daily routine, but cardiac fitness can never be
achieved in this manner. Do not forgo your aerobic workout
thinking somehow this sandal is the cure for your fitness
woes. Maybe a curvier calf muscle or thinner thigh, but
just walking in a sandal cannot achieve real fitness.

Can anyone wear a "Fit Flop"? Caution should be taken in
picking any shoe. Foot type is important to evaluate. Many
people with significant flexible flat feet or unstable foot
type should not wear the "Fit Flop" because the
destabilizing technology can actually accentuate the stress
on their foot. If you require in-shoe foot orthotics, the
"Fit Flop" is probably not for you.

Bottom line: "Fit Flops" are a good alternative to the
common flip-flop sandal but should be worn gradually. Pay
attention to any fatigue in your feet! If you have any foot
pain or injury, visit your podiatrist and ask their advice
on your ability to wear "Fit Flops".

Say Yes to Your Life!

Say Yes to Your Life!
How do you say "Yes!" to Your Life? What are the things you
do--or perhaps long to do more of-- that help you feel
good, stay in balance and enjoy your life?

Saying, "Yes!" to life through your daily habits and
regular practices is powerful and transformational Self
Care.

* It is an approach to health that will help you create a
life of ongoing well-being that is always appropriate
because it is based on what you need at any given time.

* Saying, "yes" to life, by taking care of yourself your
way, feels so good it really is a celebration.

* It is an approach to health that is responsive, adaptable
and tunes you into your inner knowing.

* The more you say, "Yes!" to what is right for you, the
more quickly and easily your "negative " habits will fall
away.

Somehow in our modern culture it is easy to forget how
fabulous it feels to take good care of ourselves. With our
amazing medical advances and barrage of media messages, we
often think of health care as something someone else does
to us and of well-being and beauty as coming from outside
of ourselves. It is so tempting to respect so-called
"authorities" on diet and exercise above our own body
wisdom.

But when you connect to your body's wisdom, when you tune
into and trust your soul-in-the-body-knowing, you will be
guided to the daily practices and habits that you need for
health and healing.

So, now, take a few easy, softening breaths and ask
yourself the following questions. As you do, listen to your
body wisdom. Sense for a response from your own deep
soul-in-the-body-knowing.

* What helps your body feel its best?

* What makes you feel more alive, more energized, more
relaxed and more happy?

* What ways of moving, eating, playing, resting, creating
and interacting are your ways to say Yes! to your
particular life, in your body, just as you are?

* What brings you home to yourself? * How many of
these things are you doing each day?

* What one or two things could you start doing today that
would make a difference for you?

Begin today to find more ways to say "Yes!" to Your Life!
With daily habits and practices that feel great to you, you
are feeding your body and soul strong life-affirming
messages. "Yes! I want this life and I will
create it with joy and awareness." "Yes! To
feeling as good as possible in this body."
"Yes! To celebrating this time we have with dear friends
and family." "Yes! To this precious Earth on
loan to us."

It's your body and your life. Commit today to living it and
enjoying it your way. Say, "Yes!"

To Cleanse or Not To Cleanse

To Cleanse or Not To Cleanse
Today in class we talked about digestion. We discussed how
our bodies are uniquely designed to handle whole food
products, fruits, vegetables, meats, sweets, you name it.
We are designed to handle whole foods, not isolated
nutrients, like protein powders and amino acid supplements.
My goal is to teach theses students how to make healthy
choices (as well as the occasional high fat sweet), how to
make their decisions based on science, not on advertising.
My goal is to create nutrition ambassadors to send out into
the world and spread the good words-eat food, not pills (no
small mission for me).

After having spent a few weeks building up to this topic,
and managing to complete most of it with the class still
awake, a student, right before class ends, asks "what about
those master cleanses? The honey and vinegar combinations
that help get rid of all the toxins in your body."

I wanted to shoot him-I am hoping he was one of the folks
who wasn't paying attention.

But maybe he was. Perhaps he was listening, and just
wasn't able to comprehend the complexity of how our bodies
operate. When one can't manage to understand complexity,
one goes to the easy fix, right? After all, these quick
fixes are simple to understand-all you need to do is look
at their advertising: "drink this for 24 hours and you'll
feel like a new person." Or,"take this pill every 3 hours
along with our specially patented drink and you will remove
all the toxins you're body has accumulated over the last
ten years."

We all want a quick fix, whether it is for our finances,
our bodies, our diets. But quick doesn't mean correct. If
you think about it, all the diets you read about are
popular because they promise quick fixes, quick weight
losses. No one will promise you a permanent weight loss
(which surprises me, considering what else you are
promised), because diets don't work. Let me rephrase that,
all diets work, while you are on them. The problem is
eventually you go OFF your diet, and the weight returns.

It is important to realize making healthy, permanent
changes for our diets, and our bodies takes time. Small,
incremental changes we can live with are what will stay
with us. Half a bagel instead of a whole bagel, a small
latte instead of a large mocha, walking up two flights of
steps and then getting on the elevator. Slow, steady -
non-dramatic changes are the ones we can build on.

As for cleansing our bodies? The best way you can keep your
body healthy is to eat well, exercise and enjoy life. You
know the basics about the fruits and vegetables, lean meats
and poultry. What you may not know is that quality of life
is also up there on the top of the list. Having your
occasional dessert, glass of wine or beer-these are also
important. None of these choices are toxic. However, not
knowing where to go to ask your questions, not trusting
yourself to make the right decisions-well, that could kill
you.

3 THINGS YOU MUST DO EVERYTIME YOU EAT IF YOU WANT TO LOSE WEIGHT AND KEEP IT OFF

3 THINGS YOU MUST DO EVERYTIME YOU EAT IF YOU WANT TO LOSE WEIGHT AND KEEP IT OFF
Food is meant to be an experience in every part of your
body mind and soul. If you are only eating to fill your
hunger or void you are not experiencing what food is for
your body.

Food is to be the ahhh..., aha! and an OMG moment every
time you partake of it.

People today are in such a hurry and have various sugar and
food addictions they don't even know why they are eating
the foods they do except they have too. And the result ends
up being an experience of pain, sadness, guilt or regret.
Those experiences bring on all of the sickness and
depression and overweight the body is only able to deliver
after such trauma. Ahhh...

The ahhh... is a meditative hum that sends the energy to
relax the body in a tranquil state to receive the food into
the body. Aha!

Aha! is the body and mind experience of the awakening of
the senses as they are aroused to experience the food as a
new discovery. This allows the body the anticipation and
expectation for renewal and creation. OMG

An OMG moment occurs every time you partake of healthy
foods and begins the process of receiving the resources
from the food for healing, nourishing, restoring,
rejuvenating and re-energizing the body, mind and soul.

If you are not having this experience with food you are not
eating with a purpose. Choosing Foods That Give you "Life"

Is your food is lifeless with no color and no aroma? Is it
bland and boring and making you stink? Is it making you
old, ugly and grouchy? You may have been seduced into
believing that what you are putting into your body is
nourishing it when in fact it is raping it of the very
essentials of life.

Food is to have the color of flowers so that we embrace its
beauty as we partake of it. It should stimulate our sights
and bring us joy as we look upon it in anticipation. Food
is to have the aroma that awakens our bodies to
possibilities and expectations of our lusts and cravings we
are rightfully and eager to indulge.

Food as it enters our mouths is to be an orgasm of flavors
bursting onto our taste buds as we exclaim with delight
O... M... G...! This experience with food allows it to
renew, restore, and re-energize the body at the cellular
level and gives it an experience of true youth no matter
what your age.

You can never gain weight eating food like this because it
is only used by the body for the experience it was meant
for. The rest is gently discarded as will be the experience
and not the exception.

We traumatize our bodies today with the food we eat and
force it in at such an alarming speed it is in a constant
state of emergency. It cannot repair the damage fast enough
before we are repeating this horrifying experience again.
We are fat and sick. We try to fix our broken bodies with
drugs, surgery or sadly with no solution bury it in a box
deep in the ground.

We can live long, healthy, happy energized lives if we will
just take the time and eat food with a purpose and
experience the ahhh..., aha!, and OMG joy it was meant to
give us.

Marbella Hot Tub - Buying & selecting

Marbella Hot Tub - Buying & selecting
If one is looking for a Jacuzzi Style Hot Tub perhaps, you
are thinking of placing one either on a terrace or indeed a
roof terrace or in the Garden there is a very wide choice
to consider.

Originally Hot Tubs which were very popular in Japan were
made hundreds of years ago and were circular in shape and
constructed from wood not unlike very large beer barrels.
Today it is possible to get modern acrylic Hot Tubs in that
shape also. These circular Hot Tubs provide a great depth
Tub with plenty of Jets and a great Hydro massage effect.

However, it also possible to get the same effect from a
modern cedar Hot Tub one that is made from real natural
Canadian Cedar. Circular Hot tubs that are made either out
of Acrylic or out of Cedar are great for family and friends
to get together.

The clever combination of warm water with, buoyancy and
massage Jets goes a long way to provide a pleasant relaxing
sensation that is not only able to bring some relief to
muscles & joints but also provides relaxation to the mind,
body and spirit.

The latest designed Hot Tubs have an increased number of
more powerful jets strategically placed for maximum
benefit; these Jets offer supreme therapeutic support in a
carefree setting.

The effect of the semi buoyancy with the warm water helps
to gently raise blood flow and aid circulation. This allows
nature to reduce strain and soreness, and at the same time
helps to relieve pressure and tension throughout your body.

This scientifically calculated buoyancy (and the directly
related feeling of weightlessness) helps to blends
perfectly with the swirling warm water to deliver a
relaxing hydrotherapy with healing properties. In fact, you
will feel much better in just 10 minutes.

Hydrotherapy & Hydro massage does help in many ways to
improve ones health and well-being. Not only do the warm,
bubbling waters help to simply melt away tension and
strain, they also provide a gentle and effective massage -
which targets ones joints and muscles, promoting a much
better night's sleep and at the same time combating the
pain of arthritis and other muscle-related injuries.

Safe, enjoyable and very effective for the whole family,
hydrotherapy and the health benefits of a Hot Tub will help
everyone enjoy a much more active lifestyle. Modern Hot
Tubs originate back in time just over half a century ago,
(1954) when the Jacuzzi brothers invented a portable
whirlpool pump (simply as I understand it because one of
their relatives had arthritis) and from there on in the Hot
Tub Industry has not looked back.

When buying a Jacuzzi Style Hot Tub you should follow a few
simple ideas:-

If the tub is plastic, make sure that the shell is made
from proper Lucite not just a Lucite inspired shell.

If the Tub is made of wood then you want to make sure it is
made from Canadian Cedar.

You should look for an American or Western Manufacturer who
has many years of experience and can offer proper
warranties and guarantees.

Lastly look for Balboa controls who are acknowledged as one
of the industries leaders in the field of Hot Tub controls.
